The story of the Ubuntu Edge is definitely an inspiring one – a promise of computing convergence, along with some truly dizzying specs...

I really want this to be a success story, but honestly they set their funding goal way too high. More than triple what the largest crowdfunding success had been to date is just way too much.

I think that Canonical has a very interesting idea in regards to convergence, but they are a software company, not a hardware one. They need to think along those lines and partner with a manufacturer to make it happen, regardless of how cool the Edge looks.

If they could do this, why didn't they from the get-go......

I hope the funding will be successful. They could have already received it if they had chosen Kickstarter.

I for one will be checking back towards the end of the campaign to pledge if it looks like it will go through. I agree with some of the other commentors that they do need lower the $32M down to something more reasonable. Fingers crossed though.
