Price cut for Microsoft Surface RT might not lead to a jump in sales

Last weekend, we told you that Microsoft had put into effect a price cut for the Microsoft Surface RT tablet; the new prices tag the 32GB model at $349 (a 30% discount) and the 64GB version at $449. Will this help the moribund line come to life? According to Taiwan-based supply chain makers, the answer is a resounding "No!"...

completely agree! it doomed HP tablet not long ago...

I also think there's miscommunication, and false advertising from them. On the RT, you get around 15GB is usable storage (around the same amount a 16GB iPad has available; around 14GB) yet they advertise it has a 32GB device. I dislike this kind of stuff; because it misleads the user into thinking there going to get more space than they actually are. Not to mention, in all of there Surface ad's you see the Touch Cover/Type Cover, which isn't included in the original price.
Basically, you're paying $499 for the limited version of the RT that doesn't include the $130 accessory that they have made into an essential part of owning an RT.
So, when the RT was introduced, for the same price the 16GB iPad gave you about the same amount of usable storage, 100x more apps, a FAR superior screen, better battery life, and a vast assortment of accessories. The RT's sole advantage was expandable memory, and as nice as that is to have, it doesn't remotely make up for the disadvantages.
At that price, it was bound to fail. Who ever made the decision to set it at that price point should be fired.

If Microsoft has started selling the Surface RT at $350 they would have had a better chance at moving some of their stock

The problem is the os takes a lot of space and there are not enough apps, performance issues with tegra 3, as well as display quality, and if they only improved on those areas except for the apps and priced it correctly it would compete with the ipad, but is kind of too late, has bad resolution, not enough processing power, and not enough apps, and still priced higher than other tablets that work better? No thanks

If they start selling price at $350, they wouldn't be called Microsoft. Even their software cost more than that.
Microsoft has been pressured to change for the better, let hope it work and they could offer better value to their customer.

Microsoft doesn't know how to market their products. If apple had come up with the metro interface they would have made the world believe that metro/modern is what we have been waiting for. MS is happy receiving acknowledgement from the 500 people attending their launch party.
as far as number of apps is less point is concerned.. Microsoft revealed that they have close to or over 100,000 apps in the store. And 90% of it can run on RT devices ( the 10% probably need desktop mode)
i personally like the metro/ modern interface and the fonts. Does MS need a representative OS in the ARM world?. If yes, they should give RT free (no licensing fee) to the OEM's for them to compete with android devices. Just imagine the boost in market share MS will have when its possible for people to boot any ARM device on RT.. (RT Dongles for TV, RT car navigation systems.....)Hmmmmm...
