Snapchat's Spectacles are easily one of the most interesting and unique gadgets that we've seen all year. As weird as they may be, the ability to easily record and upload videos to the social platform does sound pretty cool, and the glasses simply look like they're a lot of fun to use. As interesting as they may be though, actually getting your hands on a pair is no easy task. Snap Inc.'s decision to sell the spectacles through a vending machine certainly is an interesting move, and while a new pop-up store in New York increases the availability of the Spectacles, they're still one of the more difficult pieces of tech to get your hands on.
If you do happen to own a pair of Spectacles though, Rochester Optical just made an announcement that could prove to be quite useful for you. Owners of Snapchat Spectacles can now take their glasses to Rochester Optical and get custom prescription lenses added to them. Rochester Optical has already been offering prescription lenses for Google Glass and Microsoft HoloLens, so the move to offer custom lenses for Snapchat Spectacles seems like a natural fit for the company.
If you happen to live in NYC or find a Spectacles Bot that's selling the glasses, you can pick up Snap Inc.'s latest invention for $129.99. From there, getting those custom lenses through Rochester Optical will set you back an additional $99, but depending on the options you get with your lenses, that cost could be even greater.
