Pay full price on phone kids and parents don't have that kind of money, they may preferred 2 years contract and discount on phone.

Thats the whole point of it. They arent giving you a all in one price for pp like other carriers, its to get you to sign an agreement. Plain and Simple

I guess people looking for tiered data plans from VZW are still being let down...I told everyone VZ wouldnt go to tierd data like At&t poor decision making behind. Even this proves it, unlimited data even for prepaid..FTW

Lte will be prepaid unfortunately

24. sinfulta posted on 02 Sep 2010, 00:25

I am pretty sure... but a VZW person can chime in as I thought it was 1yr pricing on all phones + $20 on regular/multimedia phones and 1yr pricing + $140 Smartphones. NO rebates. Example: Curve 2 (8530) $100 yr price +$140 = $239.99 for Phone. No rebate. Also the plans can not have Data Only. You have to have the monthly prepaid plan plus data for the devices that require it. If you do not fulfill the entire Prepaid monthly plan + the data, then your phone will be billed at the per minute rate until full amount is paid. Example 2: Curve 8530 $44.99/mo 450Min Prepaid plan + $29.99 data = $74.99/monthly must be renewed in full otherwise if you only pay less than that amount like for instance $50. Then you will be billed .45c/min for calls till your balance reaches the minimum plan of $74.99.

The LG Clout 8370 has the data plan?

4. SPcamert posted on 01 Sep 2010, 08:33

Has the option of a data plan.

19. CellPhone1234 (unregistered) posted on 01 Sep 2010, 16:47

I am fairly sure you will need to have one of those data plans on there. I think the option applies to whether you want the $10 or $30 plan.

22. VZWINDREP (unregistered) posted on 01 Sep 2010, 18:30

the clout requires at least a 10 data plan, you can chooose $10 or $30

25. all4qt323 (unregistered) posted on 03 Sep 2010, 20:30

Actually the clout doesnt require a data plan...

3. sickofit (unregistered) posted on 01 Sep 2010, 07:46

OK, how about the Fascinate, DROID X, etc. for a dollar, unlimited data, and unlimited talk and text for $29.99? This is another choice. People complain about the contract and data plans, and when another option is offered, MORE complaints. I hear the Jiterbug is a nce phone...

16. joeboo62 posted on 01 Sep 2010, 15:07

They still complain about Jitterbug, Then it switches from price to service or coverage. Noone wants to pay for anything unless its a Bmw. Then Its ok. If people would actually see the full price first then they would be kissing peoples feet to sign up for a 2 year contract. Even worse is when they find out that a company is a reseller and they call the original provider to complain instead of the reseller . No that takes nuts

This is a pretty sweet option for those of us that don't really make phone calls. I barely even text anymore everything is done over wifi or 3g using Gtalk... hmmm

6. jskrenes posted on 01 Sep 2010, 09:11

I suspect those data options are additional features to the voice plan. BUT, you could sign up for the $/day or $.25/min plan, add a $30 pda plan, and $15/mo minimum for voice and have a PDA only plan for $45 a month.

13. Sharky posted on 01 Sep 2010, 11:30

You can't. PhoneArena forgot to mention that a $45 voice plan is REQUIRED. So if you want to have 3G data you'll have to pay $75 in total including voice. Also no text plan is mentioned, so I'm guessing it'll be $.10/text. Really doesn't sound like much of a deal IMO. Although I could live with just the voice plan since I'm always around wifi.

14. JJjj (unregistered) posted on 01 Sep 2010, 13:01

so I may be lost here but i didn't see that mentioned anywhere??

18. Sharky posted on 01 Sep 2010, 16:31

Engadget had a photo of the 8530's prepaid box on which it listed the required voice plans ($45-75).

21. VZWINDREP (unregistered) posted on 01 Sep 2010, 18:29

the 45 plan is for only talk and its $.20 per text or you can do 65 for talk and unlimited text or add a $10 text package plus your require data for the month

This is gonna be the one thing that I am glad Verizon did. Let folks buy the phones at full price and do what they want with it. Folks may think Smartphones are expensive, but think about it. Every two years or so, you pay $200 or $300 for a new phone with your discount. Sometimes that's the cost after rebate. Paying full price is generally only $200 more than the contract price. It's not a price where you can switch your phone out every month or two, but you could get a new phone every year or two. Can't wait until everything is LTE. I'll be one of those folks paying full price and moving to whichever company gives the best service with the best price. As much as folks hate Apple and now Google, I think those companies have the right idea. Apple didn't allow any carrier branding or software on the iPhone. So a hypothetical iPhone is visibly indistinguishable from an AT&T one. Google wanted to sell their phone at full price if you wanted to get it and I hoped it would spark manufacturers to start selling their own phones instead of me having to go to AT&T or Verizon and buy my phone through them with their rules. When everyone is on LTE and Apple can sell me an iPhone that works under all bands (for roaming purposes of course), I can take my phone where ever I want. Rawk...

What they aren't telling you is that you can currently buy a phone at full retail and activate it on a month to month plan.
