The 16GB Samsung Galaxy S5 is priced at £499.99 ($838 USD) or £599.99 ($1005 USD) after tax. Amazon Spain is asking €730 ($1009 USD) for the same exact phone...

"The phone caries IP68 certification and is waterproof"
S5 is IP67 certified.

That could help sony sell more units. Both phones are awesome in my opinion. I would get both, but I'm not sure if they'll have it on T-mobile seeing as they just got the Z1.

Yeah i agree with you both phones are awesome just like any other high end phones.
But i think Z2 and next gen Nexus 7 or Nexus 7 (2013) is much more better than Z2 + S5.

I personally prefer phones to tablets. I like switching the SIM card between them when I feel like it.

s4 did well, in terms of sales, but they expected 2 times bigger sales than s3 does and it didn't happened. S5 will still be hot seller..and there is no point to put lower price.

It was the highest selling Android phone of last year & it sold at a faster rate than the S3. Just because it didn't sell as much as Samsung wanted it to, does not mean it "didn't do well". If it "didn't do well", how would you describe the sales of all other phones?

Still not worth that huge pricetag... Samsung, meet Apple, they also charge an absurd amount above the actual value!

I read that the T-mobile and Sprint prices for the S5 were ~$650-$668 so the price increase sounds minor.

All, just skip the S5. I rather get the Note 3 which is priced much lower now.

I think that's a much better idea as the Note 3 is STILL a formidable phone.

If you think those prices are insane, wait till you see the premium Galaxy F series. (if they bring it out.)

Well its not a wonder that samsung gave it a higher price when ever they have a new phone product in the market. With that price i go to Note3 worth getting for than s5.

Pre-order prices may be this high, because the retailers now that the price Samsung has in mind is lower. Therefore they make a lot of money on the pre-orders, and afterwards they can tell that they 'didn't know what price it was supposed to be, because Samsung didn't reveal that until 11th April'.

Well before you all spit your dummies out, take a breather and remember this is a pre order price, when the galaxy s4 was announced on pre order it was in uk £679, then in the weeks upto it's release it dropped to £650, then £629, this devices is listed at £599. So a realistic price will be either somewhere in the region of £550 and if you wait for a month after it's released then u will prob get one for about £529, so in the uk at least, it will actually be lower then the s4 meaning Samsung kept a lower price point then it's previous gen phone.
The premium device will be the f-series, which I reckon will be closer to £699, QHD screen, 64gb storage, 3gb ram, snapdragon 805 @ 2.65ghz, unibody waterproof design with removable back cover, along with all the stuff the S5 has now in it, I would also like to see a bigger camera sensor, along with shutter speed control and really good low light skills but I doubt they would develop yet another sensor considering isocell is brand new

It's just ... as if Sammy wants to destroy Galaxy class ... In favor of note and the "rumored" F series ... Not this time Sammy, not this time
