Poll results: here are our readers' favorite smartphone, tablet, and gadget of CES 2014
If there was any doubt that Sony Xperia Z1 Compact was the coolest smartphone of CES 2014, that should be all gone now after our recent post. For those who missed it, last week we asked our readers to vote for their favorite smartphone, tablet, and gadget of CES 2014, and today it is time to take a look at the results in detail.

So yeah, the Z1 Compact takes the top spot in the smartphone category after collecting over 50% of the votes. It is leading by a wide margin ahead of the Sony Xperia Z1S, which was voted for by about 15% of those who participated. The Asus ZenFone series and the Asus PadFone X got some love as well, receiving about 7% and 5% of the votes respectively. We must highlight the fact that 52 of the people who cast their vote didn't really like any of the phones on the list, which suggests that the smartphones shown off at CES 2014 weren't really all that exciting.

Next up we have the tablet category, and to no surprise, it is Samsung's tablets leading the charts. Over a third of the votes in our poll were for the Samsung Galaxy TabPRO series, and the Samsung Galaxy NotePRO got another 25% of the votes. The Asus Transformer Pad Duet also deserves to be mentioned after being voted for by almost 12% of those who participated.

And last but not least we have the gadgets and gizmos of CES 2014 – there was no shortage of them, as anyone who attended the show would agree. The one that truly grabbed our readers' attention appears to be the Sony Core smartband, which is built to keep track of not just the user's fitness regime, but their entire life. Pebble's Steel smartwatch takes the second place and the Intel Edison SD-card-sized computer is third. Again, a significant fraction of our readers weren't very impressed with the selection of gadgets demonstrated at the show, judging by the poll results. Oh well, let us hope that next year's CES will be more exciting.

Is Sony alright?
Why on earth would anyone buy a 4.3 incher rather than 5incher?
If they thought they could be successful by making dimesion of phone similar to iphone, they are wrong.
LOL TO SONY
even galaxy smartwatch would outsell this z1compact

Damn, I don't think he is, having some kinda haterade induced stroke. Apparently wider choice and availability is hard to understand. I think he is under the delusion that they will stop making 5 inch phones after this.

Speak for yourself. I (and many others) wouldd choose a compact, one hand friendly phone over a gigantic phone in a heartbeat.

For people such as yourself, there is the Z1. So you can gorge the the 5 inch to your pleasure.

Sony is offering choice, so stop mocking.

And yet, the poll saids otherwise... Some people...

Also, galaxy gear won't be outselling anything, it will only be out given.

why the hell people will not like, i am one who has been waiting for, 5" device often slips out of my hand and , 4.3" is just perfect for me , and i wanted most powerful camera from sony that i am going to get, z1 is been available in the market , but i could nt go for that for the same reason,

You have your own views just talk about that, i hope sony will not take your comments into account, and would make phones for people who buy their products

Because Sony phone dont have thin bezels so people with normal size hands cannot use the 5" phone one handed. 4.7" is the ideal phone screen size.

Galaxy smartwatch is rubbish. Pointless gadget . No waterproof ? Limited functionality ? High price ?
I rather get a traditional watch myself but if I really have to pick a smartwatch it would be the pebble or Sony smartwatch 2

Im glad Sony is makign the Z1 compact. It is actually a Z1, but compact. It is not like the S4 mini or other scam phones where they put low or mid range specs in a phone titled after being a smaller flagship. Good to see someone other than Apple and Blackberry is treating those with smaller device preferences with respect.

I'm going to take a guess this time that this compact power race that seems to be forming with Android along with Google's design push for their software should make Apple go under 10% market share worldwide for the first time. It really was the last real advantage Apple had and now that seems to be under attack. Even though Apple seems to be entering the large phone market, I wonder how many people will actually switch from more functionality to less since it is harder to do than from less to more.

Because it is CES. You won't expect much of phones at CES. MWC is what you should see if you are talking about phones.

Notice how I didn't mention phones. The only thing they wow'd me with was the 4K handycam. $2,000 is really cheap comparing the prices to others.

Agree. Sony is actually aiming for 4th place globally... Of course after that goal, they could hope for more growth... But as it is, Apple and Samsung will be on top for a while.

Sony please read these polls and all of the comments on your phones. Then bring them to the US in a widespread fashion. Thank you
