The Samsung GALAXY Nexus was announced last week with industry challenging huge 4.65-inch screen with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. The beautiful contoured screen was the biggest highlight…

The iPhone 4S is very underwhelming compared to the Android phones that are out & especially the Android phones that are coming out. Can anyone say Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Motorola Droid Razr, & the HTC Vigor or whatever its name is, those phones are pushing the industry. The iPhone 4S is CLEARLY not at that level. The over 6 month old Samsung Galaxy S II out classes it also. Makes you wonder what the Samsung Galaxy S III will be like huh?
17. kshell1 posted on 24 Oct 2011, 07:52 8 2
the sgs3 is going to be a quad core monster with a super amoled plus HD screen (please release that tech) running at 2.0ghz on ics :) i hope tht is true and oh like a 10 or 12mp cam with a carl zeiss lens

That is exactly what I think. All of that with some sexy design elements. The Samsung Galaxy S III is going to be from the future! lol

What? What are you talking about? I never copied & pasted anything?
Dude the benchmarks on a weak OS are always better. If the Samsung Galaxy S II were running iOS5 it would destroy those numbers. If the bogus 800MHz A5 dual-core tried to run Android 2.3.5 it would crash because Android is too complicated. The only thing the Apple has better than the Samsung Galaxy S II is a slightly better GPU, THAT IS IT!
81. rf1975 posted on 24 Oct 2011, 12:48 1 10
Thank for accepting the fact that the Android is too complicated. Apple always try to keep their costumers out of complicated thing. that why iphone became so popular. Mate you have to learn that a weak OS can not take most of those benchmark done by anandtech. and if iOS is complicated, then Apple will make their "A" series chips according to that. I am not telling that GSII is bad. but do not mislead the readers of PA by acting like pundit.
90. SuperAndroidEvo posted on 24 Oct 2011, 14:20 10 0
Dude Android is VERY easy! When I say Android is complicated I mean that it’s a Ferrari compared to iOS as a Honda. A Ferrari engine destroys a Honda engine in both complexity & RAW power. Android CAN do more complex things & do them very well. I most definitely don't mean that Android is too complex to use. If you can touch a screen with your finger, THEN you can use Android. Maybe iSheep are too stupid & don't know how to touch a screen? Is that what you are saying, because my 60+ year old Mother prefers her Motorola Droid 3 compared to the "easy" or "less complicated" as you say Apple iPhone 4. So there goes your complicated to use Android theory!
Also do you even know what a pundit is?
The iPhone 4S is very underwhelming, what is misleading about that?
The phones I stated are better phones, the Samsung Galaxy S II IS a better phone. Wait until Android Ice Cream Sandwich then the Samsung Galaxy S II WILL be even better!
127. mpat95 posted on 24 Oct 2011, 19:59 3 0
the only reason y is ios5 is "simple" is because it serves no function except as an app launcher... im sure if thats wat android was going for we wouldnt be to "complicated" for ur dumbass

SGS2 kills even after half a year since release and almost a year since debut the SGS2 still beats most phone coming out. Sure the nexus has a 720p (But Pentile), a soc that's run the SAME speed with a (old wag bag GPU that's over 2 years old) good for its age gpu, and the new android 4.0 ICS but hey it's not like SGS2 will never get it... ans the razr- what about it- a qhd??? I thought were moving on to 720p WTF??? can't see why anyone would buy the razr over nexus. Whatever though it still remains to be seen if the nexus can beat the SGS2 in terms of performance.

56. rf1975 posted on 24 Oct 2011, 10:39 2 8
You are correct. but there is another point that you people forget to notice that Apple handling all those Android phone manufacturers single handedly.
I mean if you compare the breakdown let say
then you realize.
63. willardcw4 posted on 24 Oct 2011, 11:23 8 1
You are correct in that the iPhone outsells any other single phone model. However, if all of the Android phones were consolidated into a phone with a once a year (approx) release date / refresh, that phone would have higher sales than the iPhone. This is extrapolated from Android having a higher market share than iOS.
But that isn't the Android strategy, so making the comparison doesn't really mean much. Both systems are extremely successful in their own right. Ultimately, there are more Android devices than iOS devices with consumers. End of story.
84. Galaxys2...R posted on 24 Oct 2011, 13:03 4 0
The amount of times I have been trying to say this.
Everyone keeps saying oh iphone outsells any android phone ofcourse it does because it is the only phone available on IOS at any one time. Where as android has samsung, htc, sony, motorola all making tonnes of phones a year for android.
Say for example we just had one phone from android and one phone from IOS every year. The android handset will outsell the iphone.
Obviously when you have loads of different manufacturers you have loads of different choice. I mean for example take the total number of android phones sold this year well say upto the announcement of the ip4s and i bet there is far more android phones sold on a whole than there is iphones.

I wonder, are you trolling or was that a genuine question? If it was the latter, you probably won't understand the explanation.
Form factor is the most immedate thing that comes to mind. iPhones come in one shape, size and flavour. 3.5" screen, 3G connectivity, no hardware keyboard. All of the iPhones since the 3G have had those in common. If you come from RIMworld and can't imagine a phone without a keyboard, sorry, the iPhone's not for you. Same if you have vision problems and need a bigger screen, or want LTE connectivity. The "one size fits all" method is why Android has more market share than iOS.
This was fine when iPhones had the best of the best design out of any phone today, but it's now outclassed in every way, especially given that the 4S was a warmed over iPhone 4. It's no longer the thinnest, no longer has the highest PPI, nowhere near the most durable, or the most ergonomic phone you can buy today.
Android phones come in literally every shape, size and form factor imaginable. Screen sizes from 2.5" to 5.3". A variety of screen technology - NOVA, SAMOLED, IPS LCD, and the list goes on. You can get 3G connectivity, AT&T "faux-G" True HSPA+ (T-Mo) or LTE/WiMax. There are (brand new) phones to suit any price range. Some Androids have excellent keyboards (Droid 3) but no OEM has bested RIM in this category.
Apple and Google's different approach can be compared to restaurants. When they were first thought of, there was a set meal served at a set time on a set day. If you didn't like it, too bad. (iOS) Modern approach greets us with almost overwhelming choice on what to eat. (Android). There is a reason why the former method has long since been though of as obsolete.
112. gallitoking posted on 24 Oct 2011, 17:23 0 2
I understand al that.. but why knock on Aplkle for being different... for being one size fits all... most of the Apple haters are always bashing Apple for not being like Android...
114. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 24 Oct 2011, 17:30 4 1
Dude in every single freaking android and apple article you are bashing Android. You never give android ANY credit whatsoever, so why are you whining and crying over people bashing Apple? It's people like you the reasons we hate apple. You are so brain washed and simple minded that you can't give credit or even think that another OS is of worth.
116. toaster posted on 24 Oct 2011, 18:03 2 0
Why did you ask for elaboration when you knew what he meant?
Name one place in that post where I knocked Apple. I just said that the one size fits all method is not the most effective strategy, because one size indeed does NOT fit all. It's great when you look at purely cost-wise - if you're only making one thing you don't have to hire a whole set of workers to create a screen that has 0.2" more real estate. But iPhones of late feel very "same-y" which is part of the reason I won't consider the iPhone 4S in February when my contract is up. That is the downfall. Apple is no longer ruling the smartphone race because of it.
Nothing in my post was emotionally charged or biased, just factual and based on personal experience as a person who owns Apple products and is a fervent tech follower.

What morons like you king don't realize is there is actually only ONE iPhone released each other. That means if you want the iPhone, you only have ONE option. If there was only ONE android phone that comes out each year. All of us would have that ONE android phone. Thus the sales of that ONE android phone would be outrageous. But because there are hundreds of android phones available, all shapes and sizes, the sales are spread out. But of course, you are an idiot who can't realize that.
I mean I can actually picture in my mind you speaking in words like that.

I really like Apple and their products, but they really did not do enough to make the iPhone 4S an above and beyond phone. Its middle of the pack right now.
Their competition is destroying them, as far as many tech people are concerned. Yet, people are still buying iPhones in droves because of a simplistic ease of use and a consistent experience. And that all fine and well, but for me, they did not do enough this time around.

The fact is Iphone 4S has huge sellings. 4 millions in three days. I don't know how will be selled since Christmas, but it wil be huge.
For the sake of precision : I'm a geek well-aware of news techs, I prefer Android.
But please do'nt be narrow-minded : Android has more geeks in its customers, ans phonearena in its readers...do you you really wonder why Iphone does not "sell" well on phonearena ? Look at every people with Iphone, then say me you really think those people go on phonearena and vote on a poll like this...

there are plenty of iOS users on phone arena. most are just afraid to speak up because you have idiots like taco, gallito, and miz giving iOS users a bad name. Look at the poll numbers, close to 4000 people voted in the poll. There are probably 20-40 regular posting board members and a few dozen that post here n there. Dont confuse the boards with people that visit PA. There are thousands of unspoken visitors that dont jump into the boards.
The apple users here are much higher than the board and poll suggests. Why might that be? A lot of them are probably disappointed in what the i4s brings to the table and are either abstaining until the i5 is released or thinking about jumping ship for the nexus or other devices.
Not everyone is a rabbid ifan like taco/gallito/miz.
22. JeffdaBeat posted on 24 Oct 2011, 08:20 9 2
I wouldn't said I'm afraid to post or speak, it's just most of the intelligence in the conversation is gone. It's always the same story of "Android is awesome, iOS sucks." And to those people, there is no in between. Apple could cure cancer and a good number of folks here would have a hard time saying that it's a good thing. I knew it was bad when there was a story about Microsoft and posters here were actually saying that Microsoft and Windows Phone 7 was better than iOS...that's about when I just stopped looking at PhoneArena in general.
As you guys know, I'm a big iOS guy. But I'm not so blinded by my device that I can't say what's awesome about the other platforms. But trying to debate or have a conversation with someone who is "ANDROID ANDROID ANDROID" is just stupid and that's what the vast majority of this site has become. Look at any...ANY Apple news and find one other than Jobs stepping down and Job dying that iOS hate didn't come out.
24. remixfa posted on 24 Oct 2011, 08:31 2 0
there is plenty of intelligent conversation to be had jeff, u just gonna plow through the crap.
so what your saying is that you stopped looking at PA because someone's opinion was the WP7 was better than iOS?? come on, really? I think that WP7 is better than iOS. I also think that android is better than WP7. You cant say you arent blinded by fanaticism in one sentence and then in another say you stop reading the site because someone had a different opinion than you. That would be right up the alley with fanaticism.
You see iOS hate. Most people dislike the company more than they dislike the OS itself. And most of the "hate" is directed at the usual suspects like Taco and Gallito, than it is at the OS.
What the iOS team is missing right now is a coherent user that uses facts and doesnt throw insults every 5 seconds like a baby, when it does get down into the VS battles. Instead of crying about iOS hate because people dont have the same opinions, jump back in and make your valid points.
You were one of the few iOS people that had valid arguments and could write a paragraph that was coherent.
27. remixfa posted on 24 Oct 2011, 08:48 1 2
for the record, i see very little blind "iOS hate" or anything like that. Yea there is some from the ancillary characters, but for the most part i see a bunch of people that have chosen their preferred OS and like to talk about the differences between them. Even idiots like taco and gallito make a good point here and there between blind fanaticism comments. Many of us "ios haters" have come to apple's defense when someone says something completely stupid or untrue and merrits a response.
Heck, I see more android people defending iOS from unwarranted/idiotic attacks from other android people than I ever see iOS people doing the same, no matter how baseless or idiotic the accusation is. Most of "us" can see the value in other OS's, competition, and the like. Its mostly the iOS users that have the "apple or die" mentality.

28. vette21man posted on 24 Oct 2011, 09:00 3 0
remixfa, I think your comment only adds to JeffdaBeat's frustration. He wasn't saying "I stopped reading b/c they bashed my iOS." He was saying, "Incessant bashing of iOS occurred when it didn't even call for it." The article was about Windows Phone, and it turns into iOS hate? Why?
Granted we have both sides. And why should there be? We all should love tech, all mobile OSs, and the leap-frogging that occurs because of the competition between them.
BTW, I think your comment about "Most people dislike the company more than they dislike the OS itself" is bogus. The comments usually don't end with "...and I dislike Apple because of their business motto." They say, "Apple sux, Android FTW."
Others have said that Apple is a bandwagon and a "special club." I would argue that Android is the new bandwagon, at least in terms of PhoneArena commenters. It's "cool" to hate on Apple and not see the benefits. (see my separate comment on device vs ecosystem on this post)
Pretty sure I have been a "coherent user that uses facts and doesnt throw insults every 5 seconds like a baby." And I think the Android bullies and gloaters could really take some of that advice.
34. remixfa posted on 24 Oct 2011, 09:27 1 1
I didnt say there werent ANY iOS users that were coherent, it just lacks in that department. Sorry vette, you didnt enter my mind at all when making that statement.. which proves my original point that many iOS users are afraid to post because of the stain that taco, gallito, and them leave on the iOS side. While speaking of iOS users, I had them in mind. They spout so much divisive vitriol and BS, that naming 5 other iOS regular posters is quite difficult. Outside of the normal BS posted by taco, miz, gallito, and gemini.. there is what... ayephoner, you.. and who else that are "main" posters that make coherent points?
" I knew it was bad when there was a story about Microsoft and posters here were actually saying that Microsoft and Windows Phone 7 was better than iOS.." (jeffdabeat)
My point was the bashing is on both sides of the isle... ALL THE TIME. Instead of crying about 1 side, and one side only, make a point about both or ignore it.
And again, most of the anti iOS vitriol is in direct repsonce to something idiotic that taco, gallito, and them said. Very rarely comparatively is it said randomly.
Personally, I dislike Apple, the company, and how it is run and what it does more than i dislike the OS. The OS, like any other has many positives and negatives depending on your view of things. Hopefully under new leadership some of Apple's major negatives will be fixed over time.

There has been a bit of a movement to get away from the crap and ugly attacks and get a little more to debates. But I will say this: At the risk of being attacked, Android supporters have recently been the more aggresive bunch. Yes, I know Taco and Gallito tend to pick a fight or two, but there are so many Android supporters calling them out at every opportunity. I posted recently I think the Miz has gone from a good humored Apple homer to a bitter Apple supporter due to attacks on him as a person. Go back and read his earlier posts- he was a very amusing read. This is not Android central, it is not an Apple site. It is a tech site. If you do not want to read an opposing view, why are you here? If someone posts something you know is garbage, why encourage him or her by picking a fight? I will disagree with someone in a heartbeat. But I will never take a shot at them as a person.
I like my Phone Arena community. Just need to be a little more tolerant.

with some people you simply can enjoy an OS either way.

I'm not afraid to say that the Nexus w/ ICS looks pretty cool. I like to think of myself as a "tech supporter," not necessarily iOS.
I don't mean to come across as an "Apple fanboy," it's just what I have right now, and other OS's haven't done anything to make me want to stray...granted we shall see where my heart lies when May 2012 (upgrade season) rolls around, but until then, I'm not trying to say that iOS is better than others...I'm merely pointing out benefits.
I love hearing legit arguments of why Android is great, and I think that it is, and I've heard no reason to switch to Windows Phone...mostly because no one in the tech world has it, so I'll reserve my opinion on it until I learn more about it.
