Poll results: Do you listen to FM radio on your phone?

0. phoneArena 22 Apr 2013, 06:14 posted on

Last week we decided to ask you, guys, if you still listen to the radio on your phones, because of Samsung's recent statement that FM radio is not that important for customers nowadays. And guess what, it turns out that many people are still using this feature...

This is a discussion for a news. To read the whole news, click here

Foolish Samsung, They left Radio because they said it's too Old but they put iRDA, some feature of 10 years Ago...

Galaxy S4 has iRDA. I think the problem is far more complicated than just their simple excuse.

Ah! Cool result!

And yes, Samsung made a mistake, they should've equip built-in FM radio on the Galaxy S4, why we listen to FM radio? Because of songs, radio stations play trending songs, all songs are included in the FM radio, American pop, Korean pop etc. and there are breaking news too!

Even the Sony Xperia Z, HTC One and LG Optimus G Pro have built-in FM radio, why Samsung didn't think about that? I don't get it!

I need a FM Transmitter. Radio = people talking s**t (read: talking s**t, not reporting news) after cutting off a song played halfway - or that;s what that happens here, for my car. Many cars dont even have the bluetooth option yet.

People talking s__t? You kidding me? Do you know what is a radio?

Yes, radio is all about trending songs, breaking news, and one more thing is ENTERTAINMENT. Why they talk a lot? Because they're entertaining us, a radio with nobody talking is very boring! Cutting off a song played halfway? Don't tell me that you want them to play the song fully, it waste even more time!

And what do you mean by "Many cars don't even have the bluetooth option yet." ?
Many cars have this option! Honda, Ford, Hyundai, Kia etc.

Geez.....you need to chill dude! :P

Well i listen to FM in my car, during my daily office commute. I havent even opened the FM Radio app on my S3, even once! I like to listen to something like a custom playlist on my device. Also, half the time, the Radio Jockey's are either talking crap or I have to listen to minutes after minutes of ads..!!!

FM Radio is very important when an emergency occurs, live news and music. Samsung made a big mistake but I still buying Galaxy S4 instead of HTC One for removable battery, expanding external memory and live thermometer. I will listen to the Radio inside my car. People choice and freedom to choose their favorite phone.

If an emergencey occurs do you think your going to hear about it first on the internet or your fm radio that you apparently run 24/7.

The question you didn't ask thus I didn't take the poll is: Do you wish your phone had FM Radio? Because if it did I would listrn to it.

My Motorola Bionic has (unofficial) FM Radio support. I use Spirit FM app for it all the time. I do have unlimited data. But some stations are too small or for some reason do not broadcast online. Plus it saves battery. I don't understand why a phone that is destined for GLOBAL use NOT to include an FM Radio? Because some rural or undevolped areas don't have good or fast data. Plus their rates are very high no doubt. I have my Razr Maxx HD and wished it supported FM. For the days of unlimited are LIMITED. So FM will and should be a feature on ALL phones. But I'd say that's just what the carriers want! More people using it so more charges!

a mistake actually made by samsung, should have left the radio on, samsung killed the radio star. The international version of note 2 and s3 has radio, proof, i own it. Its saves a whole load of battery compared to playing music loaded in, not sure y though.

I need a FM receiver specifically for motor sports events that I attend. The Adelaide Clipsal 500 V8 Supercars and Melbourne Formula 1 broadcast commentary that cannot be received any other way but by FM radio.
I had plans to upgrade from my Galaxy S2 to the new Galaxy S4, but consider FM Radio to be essential, so will be buying something else – maybe a HTC One.
