0. phoneArena 13 Jun 2013, 09:36 posted on

We asked you to comment recently if iOS 7 was everything you hoped for, or you thought Apple is just playing catch up still. Needless to say, there were a bunch of heated arguments for and against, and more than 3000 respondents chimed in...

And here it is. 51% says that Apple is trying too hard too catch up with others. Transparent is already on LG devices.

I originally thought Apple was playing catch-up as well, but i've noticed a trend with everyones statements. Everyone has said "Ha, LG has this already, Samsung has this already, BlackBerry has that already, Windows phone has that, etc.". Name one device that has everything?? Android is as close as it gets, but none of them have everything. Apple has closely monitored what works for every other OS and implimented it on their own. Innoative thinking? Not exactly, but that know how to supple a device that has every feature it's customers want. It's actually pretty smart if you ask me.

Apple doesn't have everything either. There are still plenty of Android features iOS doesn't have. No device has all the features.

Actually, you're correct. Remember the first iPhone? No really innovation as there were many features already on contemporary phones at the time, but Apple was able to put the top features from each phone into the iPhone, not real innovation, right? simple, any company COULD do it, but never did.
A TV screen, an existing circuit board, a few other existing components, they just put them all together into one product... the PC. All easy, no true innovation at this. What's the lesson?

Symbian has them all. It's not as modern, but it can do all (and more) of what the others can, excepting that involving higher-resolution screens or huge processing power (although the 808 PureView can do some pretty sweet stuff with its relatively "outdated" silicon)

You have to admit, 49% positive vote on this (or any other) tech forum is VERY impressive.

See my comment #11 below. They framed the question so that a 50/50 vote was the obvious conclusion. There was no neutral option.

40% of of 51% are the ones who have never even used an iphone before and just like to dislike everything apple does
everyone knows thats ios 7 is going to be a huge hit and will be downloaded on more than 90% of ios devices compared to hardly 20% who have latest version of android on there devices

If you know then 2 yrs old android is better than ios7 in terms of features..and there are many cheap crap android products that can never run latest updates..even though 20% android of total android devices runs jellybean those 20% will account more than that 90% of ios devices that run latest iosnas you know android has really huge market share..

Putting aside the cartoonish icons, It is an improvement, but NOT enough. Nothing new to me when compared to other OS.

iOS 7 is basically iOS 4, 5, and 6 with a colorful theme. The refresh is nice, but the fragmentation in the ecosystem is there but of course Apple covers it up.

"People please stop with all the iOS is playing catch up and iPhones suck stuff. The reveal for iOS7 was not about stealing looks and features from WP or Android because for the die hard iOS fans they don't care"

You were the loudest when the court case with Apple and Samsung was going on, Apple patented every single bit of movement on iOS which they stole from others, so now you can STFU! and see what your beloved company is all about, they steal on a major level.

We know that already. Apple still can't get throught heir THICK PATENTED head. They are running out of ideas so they think they can make it look cooler than everyone else. which isn't true. I know we CAN'T stop them from everything they PATENT cause it already exist.

Actually shouldn't YOU be the one who should go away and leave "the sheep" behind since this (iOS) is something that would concern them and not you. Or what? I think there's a sheep under that big wolf mask for every single iOS critic here or else they wouldn't be here. Fact: the sheep know who they belong to!

"Do you like where Apple is heading with iOS 7?"

I don't like where Apple is heading since I think that Apple is heading to copy features which other Mobile Operating Systems already have for many years. Also I think that apart Multitasking, Notification Center and Control Center, Apple did nothing significant. Talking about new iOS 7 User Interface, I think that it is fail.

well real iOS users are happy the only ones not happy of course are the haters.. but we all know they'll hate regardlesss, and is ok to defend your OS, just as we defend ours

"well real iOS users are happy the only ones not happy of course are the haters.. "

It seems that you are short-minded person if you think that there is only two options, love or hate.

"but we all know they'll hate regardlesss, and is ok to defend your OS, just as we defend ours"

Do you realize that you just have admitted that you defend it just because it is as you say "your" OS? Of course it is your choice, but in my opinion it is silly to deny the reality just because it is "your" OS even if it was total flop.

"Do you realize that you just have admitted that you defend it just because it is as you say "your" OS?"

You seem to think he would defend iOS even if it were a complete flop. But since that's not likely to happen, that isn't how I read his comment. He said it's ok to defend your chosen platform, and it's ok for him to defend his. That sounds pretty fair to me.

Fanboys will be fanboys, haters will hate, and trolls will troll. Some of us are trying to see the whole picture, not just the love/hate.

"He said it's ok to defend your chosen platform, and it's ok for him to defend his."

Yes, he has said that, but you have skipped the first part of his sentence, he also has used word REGARDLESS!
Do you think it is adequate behavior to defend "your" OS no matter what even if it is REGARDLESS to reality?
