Poll results: 2014 'mini' flagship versions roundup - which one would you get?

0. phoneArena 04 Jul 2014, 08:05 posted on

we rounded up all the current 2014-crop minis last week, and asked you last week which one would you pick, if you had to choose. Needless to say, more than half of our 2092 of our respondents picked the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact as the best "mini" version to get right now, as the phone indeed offers a no-compromise approach to shrinking the Z1 flagship - it sports almost the same specs, but in a body fit for a 4.3" display, which is much more manageable in your hand than the flagship, which should be the whole point with the "mini" craze...

If you look at the spec sheet alone then yes.

They've done it with ZR might as well repeat it with Z1 compact.

So obvious.

Mini is not actual mini, the size is almost same size as flagship.

with sony in the mini market, no one stands a chance unless they keep the specs of the full size flagships, The Z1 compact can and will destroy all of the tother minis

" Samsung arguably started all the "mini" craze"
What about Nokia N97 mini, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini?

Might as well say Samsung popularized the "mini" craze.

yah, mostly the target market for this are "social climbers" to have a flagship's name look and feel with mediocre specs. well, i mean no harm to those who prefer the design but like it to be mini... if you know yourself you are not a social climber, then you are not. :)

Slightly disagree.
Many people doesnt like big screens more than 5 inches. Maybe their hands are so small but doesnt want features to be mini too.

A mini phone should means small screen only. Not an inferior version of a flag-ship device

Only the Sony and the ZTE are not slow and when you factor in the price the ZTE wins by far, too bad it doesn't have microSD . Ofc it didn't got votes because most don't know the device.

Z1 compact is the best!
Same specs to its bigger brother with beautiful 4.3' 720p IPS LCD Display! :)

I dont see any problem with the Snapdragon 400 for smaller phones. We had slower processors on 5inch phones in the past and they hardly ever lagged. The S5 mini has all the sensors of the S5 including fingerprint and heartrate sensor. The only drawback wpuld be the price. By the time it is released, the Z1 mini would be almost half the price so right now, Z1 mini is the best one to get.
