Plex Media Player becomes free to everyone, adds Kodi plug-in

One of the most popular media center solutions for both mobile and desktop, Plex will probably become even more popular following today's announcement.

Developers of Plex Media Player have just announced that the application is now available for free to everyone. On top of that, the application has been redesigned and received a few new features.

Long-time Plex users probably know that some of the app's best features are hidden behind a pay wall, which can be removed by getting a Plex Pass.

However, with the latest update, all the features of the Plex Media Player will be available to everyone for free, no Plex Pass will be required.

Those who have been using the application for a long time should know that the update also adds the ability to use it on a desktop or laptop with a keyboard and mouse.

The announcement also mentions one of Plex's alternatives, Kodi. Well, it appears that Plex now features an add-on for Kodi. Those who prefer this alternative will get the same Plex server discovery, user switching, library browsing, and media playback experience that they already know.

Keep in mind though that Plex for Kodi add-on is a Plex Pass only preview, so you should keep on that pass if you've already paid for one since you're still getting something for it.
