0. phoneArena 10 Oct 2012, 06:57 posted on

The brokerage firm's semi annual teen survey counted the response of 7,700 teenagers and found that the Apple name remains a fascination with the demographic and could be even more so if a Apple iPad mini is released...

OFC such a large amount owned an iPad, even I admit they owned the market prior to this year...

Not only that, but im betting of the survayed teens (skewed poll), most had high-mid to high class parents with the money to spare. I say above that its skewed as in the entierty of the City I live in, I know less then 20% have tablets but almost 100% have phones...

This "survey's" results were predetermined before it even started, the difference if the "methodology" they chose to reach them.

It's funny but the teens like the Apple fad but as they get older they graduate to a REAL smartphone & go Android. Why you ask? Well as a child or teen you crave toys thus the Apple iPhone. As they move to adulthood they crave sophistication & demand power & performance thus they go with Android.

I have seen it with my own eyes. The mature teens who are not into the fad that is Apple already own Androids & kids like my nephew who just turned 20 want a Samsung Galaxy Note II & are dying to drop their iPhones.

lol

Iphone is only for the US. apple will not and ever will have a foothold on any of the market except the US.

No one here talks about the iPhone, haha...only the high class does that.
And even if i were a part of them, which i am not, i won't lay my thoughts on an iPhone. There are much better things to spend my hard earned money on.

"To use a car analogy, six years ago the iPhone was like a sexy new flagship model from BMW or Porsche. Today it's a Toyota Camry. Safe, reliable, boring. The car your mom drives. The car that's so popular that its maker doesn't dare mess with the formula."

"Apple seems less interested in blowing people away than it is in milking profit out of the existing lineup. At this Cook is doing marvellously well."

The iPhone is nothing but a brand that is perceived as being "cool". All kids wanna be seen as "cool" or "hip" so they're just gonna float to whatever the majority of people want so they wont be left out.

Without Apples marketing, the iPhone is an average smartphone with average features.

How could this be possible? We're always told that the iPhone is premium, elite, and too expensive for the riff raff.

Are teens rich?

Are these the same teens that are killing everyone texting and driving? Making it illegal for everyone else with a functional brain to do so?

Plays games, plays music, texts, browses the internet, and occasionally makes calls. iPhone can do all those so this survey has no surprises in it.

On the other hand, if they did a survey for people who have jobs and use their phones in an enterprise environment, results will be different. Power users are a different story.

Teens will love whatever phone they are given. It's likely that not only did they not pay for the phone, they aren't even responsible for their share of the bill. It's how it is for most kids these days; parents with all this money will buy them all the expensive, flashy toys so that they will be happy...at least until they grow up. That's another story.

Also, odds are parents who have an iPhone will get iPhones for their kids, which gets even more annoying. I even see kids younger than the ones in this survey running around with iPhones, as well. It's quite tragic to see the youth so infatuated with a device that's all sizzle, no steak. Everything the iPhone does has been in use and even expanded on over the last two years. Apple's just now catching up, and suddenly they have the greatest phone ever. Makes no sense...

You could polish a turd really nice, put an Apple logo on it, in a nice Apple box, show video after video of thousands of people spending the night in front of Apple stores... and teenagers will fight each other to buy it for the "bragging rights".

I often ask my students about how they perceive the iPhone and they would be like
"teacher, the iPhone is not good. screen is too small"
And I knew how back home how they were influenced heavily by the Big Two (LG and Samesung).

This proves that the iPhone is a trend, more than an actual better device. Teens simply buy it because, well, an iPhone.

Even Apple's marketing is based on this idea. Remember this line?

"If you don't have an iPhone, well, then you don't have an iPhone."

I used to carry a JanSport backpack at school, because everyone did, it was a trend. Was it the best or most comfortable? No, but I always wanted it anyway.
