Not surprised Alan wrote an article on the new parts of the iPhone 5.

Well it is his job, so I guess I'm not surprised either...

I'm still not convinced that the quad-core rumor is true. Apple cares about its huge profit margins more than anything and an expensive processor would greatly cut into them. On the other hand maybe Apple is finally scared of the competition and wants to make a powerful phone instead of an outdated one.

Quad-core rumor for iPhone 5 is just that - a rumor. You may see quad-core in the iPhone 6, but I tend to think it will appear in the iPhone 7 - Remember all of the rumors surrounding what ultimately was released as the 4S? Expect the iPhone 5 to be powered by a more efficient version of the iPad3's chipset. Ergo, no quad-core this time around.

I thought the next one was the iPhone 6, not 5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 4S is the 5th iPhone model.
At any rate Apple will simply call it the iPhone, in keeping with what they did with the new iPad

in terms of performance, iphone's specs are usually on par with the competition, sometimes better, sometimes worse. I think what's most important is timing. If Apple can be the first quad-core smartphone in the U.S., then I think they would do it. But the processors need to be available well before they release the phone so they can have plenty of time to test and troubleshoot.

Not if Apple says they are the first one! Ba-dum-psh!

Are you asking me? It seems as if you already know the answer. But anyway I don't think it has LTE, which is why other quad core phones haven't been released in the US.

i bet it will be a slightly modified A5X chip-- because that has the extremely powerful quad-core graphics card for the heavily lifting and the dual core which is plenty for ios

All of which is basically the iPad3's chipset, but probably in a smaller die-size for better electricity consumption.

We've already seen iOS6 and know it doesn't need a quad core. I do believe the iPhone will finally join the rest of the world by getting 4G.

AFAIK, Dual Core Chips are recommended for LTE due to Battery Drainage Problems on Quad-Core Chips, but on the other hand I've also heard recently that a New Quad-Core Chip was developed recently that improves battery life w/ LTE and etc. Well I'm not sure about this, anyway I'm assuming that Apple won't get Q-Core yet, I just know Apple slowly innovates w/ their products ex. iOS6-FaceBook+Twitter Integration, come on it's been on Android since 2.2 Froyo, but their marketing strategy is good, I'll give them props for that. They sure know how to brainwash people from their products :)

I won't believe any iPhone rumors until they are confirmed by an employee leaving it in a bar.

I doubt...4core cpu...A5x is 2cpu and 4gpu...also considering low res of iPhone...I think best guess is same chip as inside iPad2 (2012). Anyway...iFans, good luck with LTE and measly battery update (rumoured).

there will be no dramatic improvement just a little upgrade like their all products have. quad core i don't think so. their game plan is to update the next devise just a bit so its a bit better ,call it revolutionary and make a lot of money out of same device who has small improvement. that's how apple works.
