Picture and video samples from the Samsung Galaxy S III appear with encouraging quality

Just like HTC before it, Samsung is making a good use of the new Android ICS camera API with the 8MP module on the Galaxy S III. The camera on its newest flagship sports f/2.6 aperture, compared to the f/2.65 on the Galaxy S II, and the focal length has shrunk to 3.7mm from 3.97mm, allowing you to fitmore scene in the frame...

cant you read?.. i compared the SGS3 camera to the N8's... and compared its design to the One X...
if samsung wants peoples attention they should put the best in their new flagship not the common things that you can see on other devices...

Image quality is still a failure compare to Nokia N8's camera. It should be a 12MP instead of an 8MP only!

How much does it cost on Nokia 808 Pureview with 41mp?
How can you view that picture quality in a 4" OLED display, 1.3GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and runs Symbian Belle, meaning 340x640 screen resolution still.
Are people is going to replace a stand alone camera 20mp when they buy the 808 Pureview?

I know I will be.
As for the specs, they're better than that of my current everyday-use Nokia C7 Astound, so it's an improvement in several key areas for me (screen size, camera, processor speed, RAM, OS version), plus I can carry just one device instead of several for my needs.

buhhehe...kid. are you 10 or 11?
4" is too small? SO chubby 4.7 is better. If I need a tablet I take tablet with me. Not oled but AMOLED CBD which is one of the best displays out there in many terms. Stop looking only at resolution god dammit (you repeat that everytime when hearing about pureview...so why are you complaining about resolution?)
I can watch pictures and films on my N8 without any problems and I don't see any pixels!
Take this. Galaxy S II has got 217 ppi.
Nokia N8 or C7 has got something around 215 or 220 ppi due to its smaller screen.
Difference is petite.
Last thing. For your information. Some phones don't need quad cores, 1 gig of ram to run without hiccups.
Belle is optimized well enough to work very fast on this configuration.
1.3 ghz is more than enough.
Look at windows phones too.
They all have something around 1.4 ghz and 512 ram. Are they slow? No. They are faster and smoother than 95% android phones.
It's time to grow kid. You have to come down to terms with it.

The S3's photos appear sharper/clearer or at least make the photos from the S2 look like there is a white haze over them. And there is little noise. Good job Samsung. It's not much of a leap forward to be honest but an improvement nonetheless over what was already a decent camera to begin with.
Now we need a shootout against at least the other 2012 phones: One X and Xperia S. Wouldn't mind if the iP4S and Nokia 808 Pureview was also thrown in

Very good quality. But not that big of an improvement over S II.

Not a huge difference, but for those who cannot tell the difference - please, do not go into photography. The SGS3 photos have a slightly better resolution, and the focal length makes a nice difference as more of the scene does fit into the picture.....again, not a huge difference, but every bit helps.

yea, the SII's pics look a bit washed out compared to the SIII but nothing to go nuts about

the noise in check, dynamic range great, and detail aplenty. The real test will be in low light conditions,
