SP is 10x better than this junk. And cheaper too.

$370 at Negri Electronics, $380 straight from Sony (U.S). MUCH better deal, considering it comes with the Adreno 320 and an HD display. The display is TFT LCD though, so if the Xperia Z is anything to go by the viewing angles will be terrible and the contrast will be very low.

That's true, it's overpriced, and someone already noticed that the xperia SP offers a much better package for less money, BUT... if you want a compact yet powerful phone, you have almost no choice! The SP, ZL or Note 2 that have been mentioned are much bigger. This is the reason why Samsung can overprice the S4 mini: it's the only 4.3'' smartphone with decent specs. All the other 4-4.3'' smartphones on the market (except the iphone...) have mid-low range specifications, such as 5mp cameras, 1gb of ram only if you're lucky, dual core processor and so on. And until Samsung will be the only one in the "small but powerful" niche, they'll choose the price they want, since there's no competition.

Xperia S/SL has a HD screen with dual core 1.5/1.7 processor
impressive 12mp camera
and it's WAYYYYYY cheaper than this s4 mini
and if you pay a little more, you could get the waterproof Xperia V

The S/SL had the Snapdragon S3, which was bad enough to still carry the name "Crapdragon," especially when pushing a 720p screen. The Snapdragon 400 in the GS4 Mini is WAY better. The Xperia V is a much better option to the S/SL

Unfortunately the Xperia S is: 1) bigger (and way thicker) than the S4 mini (check with the size compare tool on this site), 2) has only 1GB of ram and an older chipset 3) has almost been forgotten by Sony and won't be updated further, what's more its users are not so satisfied with the JB update. The same holds for the V. So, if your focus is the screen yes, S and V are better due to their higher resolution, but if you're looking for smaller size and weight, performance, updated software and longevity, S and V are not a viable alternative to the S4 mini.

I'm an Ericsson/SonyEricsson/Sony user since 1999 and I've never owned a Galaxy, Samsung is probably the last brand I'd choose, but the problem is that this time they nailed it. Read my answer to istitch above. And please, let's not talk about the Exmor R sensor, because the camera is one of the major problems in the current Sony lineup...

Xperia V is compact and light enough, and my brother never have problem with performance, the camera is great especially with manual setting.
you like it or not Xperi V is better option than overpriced S4 Mini.
if you talking about Xperia Z camera please read this

don't worry you can buy anything what you want,
but anyone who smart enough will agree with me there is many better and cheaper options than overpriced S4 Mini

Introducing the xperia V, survived in the sea for more than 100 hours, and still fully functional after that.
And not to forget the S4 active by Samsung, trying hard to tackle sony's phone in term of water-proof capability, but unfortunately failed.
