It's that time of the year again, when we feel the need to sit down and think about all that has happened since last January. And once again, we're amazed to find out just how many incredible devices we've seen during 2011 - this has surely been the best year ever when it comes to smartphones and tablets...

why do you make an assumption that we are all trolls here? The very fact that in 2/3 categories apple is leading opposes what you just said.. We sir do know what we talk about and have the ability to comprehend that although we love somethings more doesnt mean that they are the best out there.

Not talking about you. The trolls know who they are...
42. protozeloz (Posts: 5383; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
Can you cut it out already? If we where to be trolling the poll would be a mess. You are just a louzy hater because we can like things about apple while you don't about Android Or other OS's. grow up
48. protozeloz (Posts: 5383; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
Check my post i directly said what i voted for need me to explain why?
53. protozeloz (Posts: 5383; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
What? Eee pad is a great tablet concept. It tries to make a new experience by giving people two devices to use. People can have an experience similar to the ones they have on their notebook while having a slim super portable device, you can do work on the dock then remove and take it to work Then dock it back when you arrive. they tab was well priced had some good innovative idea. The tab gets updated rather fast. Its simply a good device. So why it is a troll job?

thats just because the android products are having their vote split. This isn't apple vs android... derp

Galaxy S 2 (Obviously, its my beloved and has been the benchmark this year)
Ipad-2 ( I love the asus and the galaxy but i-pad 2 has way better apps which clinched it for me)
Steve Jobs (no need to explain)

The only thing I dont get is how we can vote on a phone that hasnt been released in the U.S. yet(nexus)?
49. robinrisk (unregistered)
maybe because the US is not the only country in the world?
I guess, im not sure, but it Has been released.
56. anirudhshirsat97 (Posts: 406; Member since: 24 May 2011)
wanted to upvote you by mistake pressed the wrong button..
Damn you PA...why cant i change it???!
62. bolaG (Posts: 468; Member since: 15 Aug 2011)
I get that its been released in Europe but sense PA is an American website I figured they would wait to post this article only after the Nexus was released in the U.S.

If you count the Samsung votes, which are Apple knock offs, Apple has almost 90% of the smartphone votes and over 70% of tablet votes.
54. protozeloz (Posts: 5383; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
That's a dumb statement. Maybe people are voting because the device is good had a little number of issues and is fast? Of you just are picking up a fight? Are you that bored?
73. snowgator (Posts: 3335; Member since: 19 Jan 2011)
Taco, my friend, after reading all your comments you have written on this poll it occurs to me you maybe kinda like trying to pick some fights here. Maybe? Kinda?
... and todays special guest villain will be taco50.

58. gallitoking (Posts: 4693; Member since: 17 May 2011)
i gave my vote to the iphone because is the phone i owned but the SGSII has been released since June so to call it phone of the year it must be available most of the year.. but i am an Apple faithful,.. and this is a popularity more then the truth..the Nexus is not released unless you live in the UK.. bloody bastards.. the ipad2 and Mr. Jobs...
60. Cwebb (Posts: 501; Member since: 05 Oct 2011)
Rezound, Transformed, Jobs. Rezound is extremely underrated, and slightly better than Razr. Nexus shouldn't be on the list because its not out in the US market. Transformer and iPad depends on your preference. Jobs should win hands down. And btw, why is the Bionic/Thunderbolt in there but no ATT/Sprint phones like Evo and Photon?!?!? PA Verizon biased
65. ZEUS.the.thunder.god (unregistered)
... and where the hell is Gee-Sung Cho ???
66. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5653; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
mine was 1. Samsung Galaxy S II 2. Asus Eee Pad Transformer 3. Steve Jobs.
67. dieztrict (Posts: 4; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
I obviously vote for Galaxy S II as the best phone 2011.
Simply because SGS 2 price was reasonable & it's performance was nearly perfect. Sorry for iPhone 4 S (although it isn't bad either but as an apple user i was expecting more).
Person of the year? i'll guess Steve Jobs deserve it (not to mention he didn't do much in 2011), it's because Steve Jobs successfully creating a strong mindset to apple fanboy & i respecting him as an inventor.
68. blackrose (Posts: 48; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
Galaxy Nexus,GT10.1,and Steve jobs. Wanted to vote Andy but didn't see him the first time until I looked at the Comments
69. henrickrw (Posts: 407; Member since: 16 Sep 2011)
I voted... Galaxy S2, Ipad2 & Steve Jobs..... I´m a Galaxy S2 lover, but I have to admit that the Ipad2 is the tablet to beat & that Steve Jobs is the person of the year.
76. sennarose88 (Posts: 53; Member since: 18 Jun 2009)
Let's left all fanboyism from voting...
Voted Samsung Galaxy S2 (perfect all-rounder), iPad 2 (I must admit iPad 2 has the best experience on tablet) and... where is Stephen Elop? Well, I voted Peter Chou then, since he's very open minded and I like it.
81. remyrz (Posts: 191; Member since: 28 Oct 2010)
I dont know why the f... you put carriers CEOs here... look man.. a webpage is a thing in the internet that the entire world can see.. i dont give a sh*t about sprint or verizon.. etc etc.. i dont live in USA, i dont have those carriers here in my countrie.. you have to be more open minded.. those guys do nothing in the list.. you should put elop or gee sung cho there.. -_-..
83. itsius1 (Posts: 49; Member since: 19 Oct 2011)
agreed... not all of us live in the states...
84. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5653; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
this is a mainly American site though hence why there are only U.S. Carriers in that left side pane there... xD
88. bakes5981 (Posts: 2; Member since: 23 Nov 2011)
I have an SGSII, so that means i voted for...
Kindle Fire! I thinking about it's effect in the long run, and how consumers perceive their tablets to be.
I'm going with Steve Jobs for the single fact that he's passed on. But if Samsung's CEO were in the mix, I would have voted differently.

I must start out by saying I really am not a fan of where the mobile industry has headed for the last several years, nor of where it appears to be on its way to. That said, I did decide to participate in the vote. I do not own any of the mentioned phones. I do not own a tablet. When it came to phones, I voted for the one that I feel works the best and smoothest out-of-the-box, regardless of specifications, from my own toying around with my friend's devices, or when I find them in stores. With the tablets, I went for what appears to deliver the most bang for my buck, because I really would not get a tablet unless it both worked decently AND was cheap, and it would not be primarily used, by me, for internet or communications. As for people, I chose the one who I felt had the biggest impact on the industry this year, and that choice was super-clear and easy to make.
My picks for 2011:
Phone - Apple iPhone 4S
Tablet - Amazon Kindle Fire
Person - Steve Jobs
If other choices were available, I probably would still have voted for Steve Jobs anyway... his affect on the industry has continued to be a driving force since the original iPhone in 2007, and has never let up even after his recent passing.

Personality = NVIDIA CEO Huang
Mobile = Samsung Galaxy S II (though my best wishes are with Nokia for a comeback and i am sure it will in 2012)
Tab = Asus Transformer (I am ordering Asus Transformer Prime ..lucky to have that on preorders in Canada)
91. coolastic11 (Posts: 6; Member since: 24 Nov 2011)
i thought Peter Chou would get more vote with HTC being the most popular US smartphone retailer in Q3
92. shehryar (Posts: 2; Member since: 22 Apr 2011)
Theres apple, Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, HTC... there has to be at least 1 LG like at least the G2x or LG thrill... By the way, where is the HTC sensation or the atrix/atrix 2?
94. pgautam (Posts: 2; Member since: 24 Nov 2011)
galaxy nexus, tab 10.1,jobs........................................they r the only to rockkkkkkkkkk
96. DroidDoesVZW (Posts: 9; Member since: 19 Oct 2009)
I voted for the Droid Razr. Honestly, I think that is the most impressive device out of all the phones on that list. iPhone, yeah whatever, Galaxy S II is not really exciting, but I mean the Razr is freaking awesome with its screen and processor and Kevlar.
97. rionel (Posts: 1; Member since: 25 Nov 2011)
Okay, I'm have the three ecosystem of mobile phones, (iOS (iphone 4), Android (HTC Sensation) and Win. phone 7.5 (Samsung Focus) . All of the three are good, I'm not pleasing everyone to like nokia-microsoft partnership but give nokia a try, It's starting over again, so why not try to give nokia a chance to return back to mobile industry.
98. CRICKETownz (Posts: 980; Member since: 24 Oct 2009)
Voted: Nexus/iPad 2/Jobs...though it was kinda hard to vote against the 10.1 or the RAZR or Rubin
99. lastoutlaw (Posts: 8; Member since: 25 Nov 2011)
whoa ! you didn't even mention the sgs2 in the description for the best phone ...!!!
100. naga.appani (Posts: 36; Member since: 26 Nov 2011)
Steve Jobs got more votes so far because he was dead.. LoL... Sanjay Jha should be a fare winner giving Motorola re-birth and then merging it with Google... :-)
101. naga.appani (Posts: 36; Member since: 26 Nov 2011)
And Motorola RAZR is a clear winner in smartphones contest... I wonder what to do with GS2....
102. abdane (Posts: 479; Member since: 07 Oct 2011)

103. SlimSoulja86 (Posts: 642; Member since: 03 Nov 2011)

106. netizen (Posts: 33; Member since: 31 Oct 2011)
OMG Jobs? Really? The lock it down, I know better than anyone else what is best for you guy?
I'll give him salesman of the decade... he knew how to put together and market a product that would bring in the most profit.
It drove me nuts that he insisted on not pushing the limits with the devices he made, and his refusal to give the customer the freedom to control their own devices.
110. shehryar (Posts: 2; Member since: 22 Apr 2011)
I voted for the galaxy s 2, but the Motorola Droid Razr, is just the most beautiful phone I've ever seen
