PhoneArena Awards 2013: Best cameraphones

0. phoneArena 03 Dec 2013, 11:01 posted on

Gone are the days when phones were good only for making calls and sending text messages. Today's top models can give us driving directions, play movies, run complex applications, and most importantly, capture photos and videos. In fact, cameraphones have evolved so much that many people don't bother carrying a dedicated point-and-shoot camera with them anymore, relying solely on their mobile device for snapping shots. That's why we absolutely had to include a category in our PhoneArena Awards dedicated to the year's best cameraphones...

I didn't see that presented in the title or the actual article itself. As far as I can tell "Best Cameraphones" could have been a flip phone with a camera.

Those are all high end phones. It doesn't matter what you think, its what the article says.. It says "the best camera phone".. It would make sense, or be fair to not include a phone on the best camera phone list just because it's not the companies best phone.. If that was the case then the 1020 shouldn't be allowed on the list because the 1520 is Nokias most advanced device available.. Whatever, none of that matters. It could be a feature phone, and if it had the camera, and software of the 1020 it would've won.. Your logic❔

Yeah, the Lumia 92x cameras are all still great, don't know why they get discounted so much. Whenever we take pictures at my office that we want to put into Social Media or other quick marketing materials, my coworkers always want to take the photos with my Lumia 928 "because it takes better photos than their iPhones." Not to knock the iPhone, which still has a good camera, but it's kinda true.

I understand the 920 not being on the list because of age,, but seriously, the 928, or 925 should've beat the iPhone.. Really, and I'm not saying this just because I'm a WP fan but the winners should be
1. Lumia 1020
2. Lumia 1520
3. Lumia 925

That's real❕

I agree that 1520 and z1 should be there, but iphone 5s has a very good auto camera, maybe it lacks some features, but it is definitely on of the best cameras for one-click photo taking

There's a lot of very good "auto cameras" But this is for the best cameras.. The 920, 925, and 928 are all more capable of taking better pictures than any iPhone, with minimal effort.. The iPhone just can't compete with WP nowadays.. Times have changed❕

Yeah, you might be right :) I am not sure about 920, but 925 and 5s cameras are quite close to each other, everyone decides personally what is better. But everybody knows that 1020 has a monster camera)

I have a 925 and my officemate a 5S. We are always talking about whose camera is better, believe me 5S is nowhere close.

Don't get me wrong, 5S takes great pictures better than most android flagships actually, but 925 is on a higher level.

When it comes to camera comparisons Nokia's should be out of the equation - it's a no contest.

The iPhone isn't a piece of shiznit, but it doesn't have the third best camera.. So, PA is saying the 5s's camera is better than the 1520's❔ Not likely.. And lets remember this competition is for the best camera, the camera that turns out the best end result... Not the camera that's easiest to use to get good pictures.. It's all about extraordinary pictures for a smartphone, not above average pictures.. The iPhone is only above average, therefore it doesn't belong in a competition in a time where we are getting close to DSLR type quality from advanced camera phones...
That's the whole point, period, point blank❕❕ No more needs to be said❗❗

I remember how all the tech media called Lumia 1020 before the release, "THE ANSWER to Galaxy S4 ZOOM."
But now in the CAMERAPHONE article they conveniently missed Galaxy S4 ZOOM .
Why? Of course- not to give the crown to Samsung again.

I notice almost everybody on this website hates on the iPhone and the iPad now eventually when you grow up you realize that without the iPad and iPhone which plays a big role in the mobile industry they are the gold standard in their segments yeah android may be advanced in most areas but without these two products Android would probably be competing with BlackBerry which means it probably wouldn't be as advanced

You can look at it that way, or you can look at it as people just getting tired of seeing the last advanced phone in just about every aspect, winning awards just because it's an Apple product. If there were simplest or fastest awards... Yep, that should be the iphone. But it should be listed in the top 3 for cameras, let's be real.

Nokia alone has 3 phone that are better than the iPhone. No matter what they did in the past, they need to be held to a higher standard than what they were 4 years ago. But I'm sure they'll [Apple will] place in every last one of the remaining awards. iPhonearena.com is on a roll and I can't see them stopping anytime soon.

Whatever man I didn't ask that question I didn't ask what phone was more advanced iPhone is still the gold standard whether you enjoy fanboys like it or not and if you don't believe me the iPhone is setting many trends don't believe me HTC one fingerprint scanner which isn't doing well Samsung is going to move the 64-bit processor even though android in no way supports it yes there were gold phones back in the day now there are even more since the champagne colored iPhone should we say project butter Android wanted their system to be as smooth as possible by the way which is great for the consumer as the iPhone should we say no SD card support come on I can go on and on if you want me to tell u how the iPhone and iOS is a system is more I can get 50 facts of how the iPhone is more superior than android as a whole

The lack on any type of HD support for your screen brings your advanced argument to a screeching halt.

Dedicated LTE Antenna?

Decent service in general especially in low reception areas?

Battery Life?

"Most advanced OS" finally adding features that Android has had for years and causing widespread issues?

True Multitasking?

Countless Camera Features that other phones offer that the iPhone still does not?

Active Notifications?

Better than 8MP camera?

Get real man.

Okay here we go again you do realize that LTE is hardware so that is excluded you do realize that battery life this phone D pendant so that is excluded you do realize that there are apps on the app store for the camera so that argument is excluded active notifications is on one phone only that argument is excluded The argument about the service provider stuff that's excluded Chew multitasking that's also excluded the true multitask as I Symbio and webOS argument excluded The most advanced OS solely depends on the user argument excluded I know phones with five megapixels to do a damn pretty good job argument excluded iOS supports HD screens As on the iPad of course argument excluded and basically the foundation which is OS X which has been in development since 1997. So iOS has a pretty good strong foundation android doesn't and on top of that Apple Built their systems from the ground up Google on the other hand bought there operating system if you're going to troll at least have intelligence

There's no doubt the iPhone is a trend setter, but a 64bit processor and gold color don't warrant giving Apple third place for camera design. There's nothing superior about the iPhone except for maybe the game play, and the Nexus 5 is right there with it.

Let's face it, the iPhone has no HD, no SD, no NFC, a small screen, a closed system, no customization, and the pastel colors just killed what little masculinity it had before iOS 7. I don't think it's a bad phone, but it's an inferior product wrapped in high quality materials.

Having support for full HD screen in one. What's the point of recording a video in full 1080P if you can only watch it on a 640p screen? iPads are the exception.
