So, while you guys are having fun over at the PhoneArena Reader Awards 2011 post, we decided that we shouldn't just sit aside and watch, you know, we felt that we want to give our own awards to the best (or worse) products, technologies and achievements that have occurred during the year...

I am a regular user of your site.
PA ... I have concluded that you are an apple fan.
2. android_hitman (Posts: 569; Member since: 07 Jul 2010)
agree with you... btw PA.. iCloud is the most poor Cloud out there
i am out of here! i am going to delete the bookmark and block this website

I am using this site since long and like it as compared to gsmarena because of more updates. I would suggest to be in touch with information and infer your own conclusion based on your own research :)

Don't let the door hit you on your way out
12. Heatfan316 (Posts: 202; Member since: 21 Aug 2011)
On his way out I hope that door hits you dead smack in your face dullard maybe it will knock some sense into you. ICloud is a joke, it just shows how greedy apple really is, you have to pay for it while other cloud services are free and you're going to say "It's more advanced" yeah kind of like how ICS is more advanced then IOS5, how about you deal with that Punk!
15. remixfa (Posts: 13882; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
icloud.. paying more and doing less than android!
if google thought of putting a letter infront of cloud and made a shiney logo, would it have won? gCloud? lol.

That's a bit over the top don't you think?
22. DaveyJE24 (Posts: 54; Member since: 02 Feb 2011)
This website should be named iphonearena.com
51. brikz4real (Posts: 172; Member since: 24 Dec 2008)
RazaAsad and hitman.... I think you should both RE-read this article. They said that the winner is the Cloud ... as in "Cloud Services". They only used iCloud for example purposes. Microsoft has had cloud services virtually since Windows 7's release. So, yes, I would agree with PA.
5. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Hope you realize the cloud is not an Apple exclusive. Does it bother that PA dares even mention an Apple product in a positive light?
6. droidnator (Posts: 86; Member since: 10 Mar 2011)
What "bothers" is that Apple products are always mentioned in a positive light, never in negative, and I quote:
"more advanced operations like the ones found with iCloud"
I guess other Clouds are basic, just the iCloud is advanced...
9. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
iCloud has more advanced features than most. Deal with it.
49. rayjones09 (Posts: 149; Member since: 16 Dec 2010)
I suppose the iPhone 4S will not suffice. Hypothetically speaking, if Apple releases a new iPhone next year that is great and Phonearena decides to give it a 5 or something, will you be happy?
7. HTCiscool (Posts: 449; Member since: 16 Jul 2011)
WTF since when is ''The Cloud'' better than LTE? This is confusing. if ICS doesn't make good use of dualcore chips then they don't deserve to be here
17. remixfa (Posts: 13882; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
i guess because ICS isnt technically "out" yet. dunno. im scratching my head over iCloud. I could have almost went with it until they decided that cloud meant apple instead of everyone.. hate to tell you, whats new to apple, everyone else has had for a while. What feature of iCloud did android not have LAST year? lol.
21. biophone (Posts: 1877; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
It did mean everyone not just apple. They also had a well thought out post as to why dc wasnt #1
27. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Remix obviously didn't understand the article. iCloud has document sync and photo stream to name two. It also backs up your settings which google doesn't do.
38. TerryCrowley (Posts: 152; Member since: 31 Jul 2011)
Yes it does. Syncing my Nexus devices with my gmail account backs up all my settings. My homescreen layouts are the same and all my old info is still there. Info to my home-wifi, screen settings and call forwarding settings. iCloud is nothing new to anyone other than sheep.
40. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Terry the nexus is an awful phone. I'm sorry youve had to endure. When youre hot for an upgrade I suggest you go iPhone.
43. TerryCrowley (Posts: 152; Member since: 31 Jul 2011)
I upgraded from an iPhone 3GS to a Nexus One. I paid to cut my contract short with AT&T just because the iPhone was that awful. When I switched not only did I get a better smartphone and smartphone ecosystem I also got the ability to make phone calls. Off a cell phone.
39. twenti7 (Posts: 152; Member since: 09 Jul 2011)
My Asus tablet offers both of those features. Every feature of the cloud that is current offered has been offered since before Apple joined the party.
42. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
That's not true android doesn't sync settle and app arrangement.
8. rawdeal (Posts: 21; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
phone arena will promote only apple products....cloud services r provided by many...apple recently joined the race....LTE is the best invention...n after that dual core processors....whn will u stop promoting only apple products in ur website...promote bias free innovation...sick u guys r
19. biophone (Posts: 1877; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
Find where in the article they said apple is the only provider of cloud services. Lte being the best then dual core is an opinion not fact. There is no reason they cant praise cloud service. I like the fact they did that because they care about the experience not just horsepower.
28. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
It's amazing how even just mentioning Apple is bad to these guys. They never said iCloud. They said cloud services. They mentioned iCloud as ONE example.
29. biophone (Posts: 1877; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
Taco i agree with you man. Overreacting no doubt
50. rayjones09 (Posts: 149; Member since: 16 Dec 2010)
LTE is not worldwide, therefore it wouldn't be the best.
11. redmd (Posts: 761; Member since: 26 Oct 2011)
Of course. It's made by Ray 4S. jk and you are getting more and more obvious. For me it's LTE, cloud is nothing if you're still stuck with low data speeds like edge lol
13. anirudhshirsat97 (Posts: 256; Member since: 24 May 2011)
I don't know why they say phonearena is biased towards apple.. I like phonearena and its the main website I visit for news on cellphones and tabs.. I haven't found anything that proves conclusively that it's biased towards apple.. If you guyz think otherwise please tell me why..?
14. biophone (Posts: 1877; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
Why do I keep on seeing complaits about this article being bias towards the iphone. Not once did I see them praising the iphone in this article. Futhermore they praised a technology the iphone doesn't have and the other two they were late in 2011 to get. The only whiff of something that may have been a bit pro apple is the 1 line mention of icould. Ok lets be honost guys icould is very well synced within its ecosystem and the fact it costs money doesnt change that. It was revelant to their point and there is no reason they couldnt mention it. Otherwise this article was pro android throughout. Now onto what I wanted my post to be before dealing with the fanboys. My technology breathrough order.
2. 720p screens
3. Exynos dual core prossor
24. Heatfan316 (Posts: 202; Member since: 21 Aug 2011)
It's complaints not complaits and also iCloud not icould. Got ya back brother.lol:) This friendly criticism
25. biophone (Posts: 1877; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
Never said i dont have typos but you were the one bashing the author yet you didnt edit your own post. I wasnt being a grammer nazi just giving you a hard time because you gave the author one.

Even if it was true, I could not blame PhoneArena for liking the iPhone. I do not ever plan on owning one myself, but I must admit they work very well for what they are designed to do on the lesser (but not too much lesser) specs...
The Cloud, in general, is an amazing and super-useful technology... I will be happy as long as I do not have to rely 100% on the Cloud...
The dual-core processor? Meh...
LTE is not a bad choice. It is, after all, the first emerging worldwide standard to replace all other wireless standards. In 2020 or thereabouts, after GSM is discontinued, only CDMA and LTE, and maybe WiMAX, will still be around... and CDMA and WiMAX will both eventually go away as well... LTE-Advanced will likely reign supreme by 2030 as the one and only non-UMA air interface for every mobile device in the whole world, and will offer sufficient bandwidth to compete with land based solutions like cable and fiber-optic line.
If it was up to me... I would have put the Cloud first (as a foundational software concept), LTE second (as the clear air interface of the future), and something other than dual-core processors third... perhaps I might have picked, well... I can not think of anything else that has been a unique breakthrough this year off hand... so without any other choice in mind, I suppose I will have to say that the dual-core processor is a shoe-in for third place in my list, for lack of any better alternative.
23. saiki4116 (Posts: 265; Member since: 31 Mar 2011)
ubuntu one, google sync are already functional even before icloud was introduced,i dont see any reason why icloud is getting a first position..
31. Boti95 (Posts: 162; Member since: 05 Sep 2010)
Why does phonearena favor apple products. They always compare phones to the iPhone. Im tired of it! If I want to hear about the iPhone, I will go to TodaysiPhone.com. LTE has changed the way we see phones and I cloud just changed the way we see iPhones.
32. Immolate (Posts: 226; Member since: 17 Jun 2011)
I'm with the others here. The 4S was such a non-event that it required mental acrobatics to find an Apple aspect to prop up for an "of the year" award. It was a spin-too-far however. The "cloud" may be fundamental to our phones' technologies, but it's been around for a while, it isn't really "there" yet, and just because Apple finally jumped on the bandwagon doesn't make it trans-formative. It's a lame thing to give the aware to. And not just garden-variety lame. I'm talking credibility-leeching lame.
Dual-core, LTE and big screens were all major evolutions that hit the smart phone market this year. Dual-core is cool, but translates into minor benefits except where software is specifically designed to take advantage of it. LTE completely reinvents the things that a phone can do. It is huge and everyone who has it can easily tell the difference. Bigger screens are also very cool, for those who don't mind the size, but screens over 4.3 are the only real new thing this year, and that's something of a niche market.
You say that LTE is too limited in deployment, but Verizon is up to what, 179 markets now? The other carriers don't really have it yet, but that's par for their course. Apple is on Verizon now, there's no excuse for them not to have it. But the smart-phone world is moving on. Sure, the 4S is a big deal, but only because of coattails. It's like a trust fund baby, flush in the success of those that came before, but contributing nothing. The fruits of that disappointment will become manifest in time. I'm sure the 5 will sell well as well, but by that time the iPhone's status as a niche product will be obvious to all. And this in spite of the efforts of the media to prop it up.

So it's a media conspiracy to uphold the iPhone. Fandroids are so funny. Desperate to rationalize why iPhone is the most advanced phone in the world.
Fact iPhone outsells every other phone even though it costs more.
45. hepresearch (unregistered)
It will continue to sell more until the economy tanks and people run out of money... then they will buy more Android phones than iPhones, until even the Android devices cost too much, and then they will buy old feature phones on Craigslist and eBay... and people like me will be so happy that we never bothered to waste our money on anything so cutting-edge.
Your beloved iPhone will never be inexpensive enough for me to be able to buy one. You may be happy about the idea, based on the last sentence I wrote, that you may have successfully found someone who you could make ashamed by the fact that they cannot be cool like you... but if you think that, then you have not followed the context here. I admit that the iPhone, in my own personal opinion, works best; however, I will never buy one, and I will not waste my money even if I ever do make enough money... someday... to buy Apple products. I will stick with my old junk, which I like tinkering around with more anyway.

for the sake of Android,,,,, they better win Phone of the year or they will be out of here... hope they leave.,.. if the can handle losing.. shouldn't play the game,..
36. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 5167; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)
Phone Arena is beginning to be more Apple lovers like Engadget.
53. metoyou (Posts: 264; Member since: 19 Oct 2011)
isnt it Microsoft have the cloud service up way long ago before icloud?
54. RamyRamz69 (Posts: 389; Member since: 12 Dec 2011)
Last time I checked my Sony Ericsson PC Companion and Media Go did exactly the same things iCloud could....
