PhoneArena Awards 2011: Best cameraphone

0. phoneArena 07 Dec 2011, 09:24 posted on

Today, the PhoneArena Awards of 2011 will honor the year's best cameraphone. And the rules are pretty straight-forward – for a device to be pronounced winner in today's category, it needs to be capable of taking excellent shots under a broad range of conditions

no, it could definately win that category, nick. if you take away all the fandom, and go by how many problems its had since launch, its definately in the top 2 or 3 worst phones of the year.

Wow you're stupidity never ceases. I can understand people preferring something else but to say iPhone is one of the worst phones when it's clearly top of the line is inexcusable.

If believing something that did not turn out to be completely true was inexcusable, we would be living in a world that is full of nothing but inexcusable people...

Fortunately, that is not as inexcusable as some might think. However, it is possible to know the truth for certain, and then to still deny it. We call that lying. I find intentional lying to be inexcusable.

I'm surprised the Galaxy nexus didn't cone second. I am also shocked to see an HTC smartphone on there even though I support them. if they were going to put an HTC on it should have at least been the Amaze 4G or the Titan.

LOL, the camera on the 4S is just about the only reason to upgrade.

The Nokia N9 and the Lumia 800 are not sold in the North American market. Nokia shows no love to North America. They will try to cram the WP7 devices down out throats, won't work unless it's a super spec device. I have a Dell Venue pro running Mango. It's such a boring OS, with your choice of 10 colors tiles. Thats about it for customization.

can you guys stop complaining about allegedly PA is biased towards Apple, the camera on the 4S runs circles around the N8 (Which is also 2010) The fact is the 4S is simply the best camera on a mobile to date.

I think people are untitled to their own opinions, that's why there is an "Add comment", so they could express themselves, either by agreeing or disagreeing or even adding to the article. Or am I wrong?

Your statement may not be wrong, but when you comment on a post, it is usually nice to have something to back your claims up with. This is the 9th category that we have announced so far, yet until today, the iPhone 4S had not been even mentioned, let alone entitled to an award. So, enough with the iPhonearena-esque comments, mmkay?

So u r talking to me, well don't expect all of us here on PhoneArena to agree with what the journalist or blogger says. As a journalism student, I know that when a writer writes a story, they should try by all means to be objective as possible, but this is difficult to do as we all bring out personal lives into the stories we write. Lemme make an example, we can all see the same event, but when we write a story, we will write it completely different [what you might consider to be important, I might consider it to be pointless. Lets say we got to Usher's concert and he let his fan to sing with him on the stage, I might find it to the best thing about the concert, while you might leave it when you write the story cos you don't consider it as the concert's factor], as we can both see the same even but our experience, ethics, behavior and attitude will shift the way see the story. In simple term, when a tech reviewer who loves using an Android device writes about an iOS device, although they will try to be objective as possible, he'll somewhat be in favor of the Android, this means that although he's reviewing an iOS device, he'll try to bring in the best of Android just to show that although iOS is good, Android also has something better. So, the reason why the is an "Add comment" is so the writer can see whether his readers agree with him or not, and we'll also put in our OPINIONS based on our experience, ethics, behavior and attitude. So that is why I think and I'm sure most Phonearena writers are in favor of Apple products, I myslef have Apple products and I love them, but I just want y'all to be objective.

I hope I won't be banned for expressing my OPINIONS. Cos that'll be...... Let's just say, I'm expressing my opinion based on what I read. Again based on my experience and other factors which might not be the same as yours.

No one gets banned for disagreeing with the writers here. I actually think the writers here have pretty thick skin and roll with the punches pretty good. I have SEEN writers on here admit that a poster has a good point, or that they never thought of something from an angle of those who post here. As a matter of a fact- I think Phone Arena has actually started leaning to the Android side of life since the release of the iPhone 4s. Just my opinion from the "vibe" of most of the authors.

The only time I have seen Phone Arena remove comments is in response to idiots who take personal shots at other posters, off topic trolling, excessive thumbs down, and swearing. I was even moderated once on one of my funnier comments for using a "debatable" word. I find that funny, cause I do not cuss in my everyday life. But I have never seen people get moderated for disagreements.

i really dont see a "vibe" or pattern. most of the writers are much more middle of the road then they used to seem. We also get tons more interaction with them then they used to give.. which is great. I think right now Ray is probably the writer that gets the most flack for being pro-apple (and he doesnt always deserve it), but even he writes articles for multiple OS's. Most of the writers tend to sway back n forth depending on the issue. It's a lot better than it was a year or 2 ago.

Xenon flash, larger sensor, Carl-Zeiss optics, mechanical shutter, 12Mpix... It amazes me how you can even attempt to compare the iPhone 4s camera to the Nokia N8's. Nice try though, 10/10 for effort :)

NO one care about your N8 you Nokia fanboys. Your N8 run Symbian so in turn it suck. I am a bit surprise that it is the mytouch and not the Amaze from HTC

I do not really know for sure either, as I have never had the opportunity to personally test both of these devices yet to the point that I would know anything useful... I think it is likely to have something to do with the exceptional low-light performance of the iPhone over the Galaxy S II (both are decent, but the iPhone supposedly excels thanks to several factors) while maintaining similar 1080p video recording performance. Really, from a personal point of view, I have not tested either one for their camera capabilities, so I really have nothing to go on. My opinion... Nokia N8, at 12.1 Megapixels, is still the best still camera available on a phone in the US market...

Yeah... how did that happen? LOL!

You know, I usually just skim through real quick if I am not looking at direct comments to my previous posts, so it took like quite a number of passes through before I discovered the explanation request. So, I apologize to you, rendHELL, for taking so long to respond, but I must say thank you for giving me an opportunity to try to answer your question! It does feel nice to be considered someone who typically gives reliable answers to questions...
