In order to deliver you the best possible experience when using our site, we have to change the way our comments system is used...

Thank you PhoneArena!! Perhaps now there can be pertinent discussion of topics, rather than comments in every single post about who's cell phone company is better and why the iPhone is so good or bad.

2. vzw fanman posted on 11 Dec 2008, 09:23

this is soooo much better. now ppl dont have to use "anonymous"

who said..!! this move just to stop people writing negative comments about this site.. which you can find it in every review. In other words, phonearena trying to hide their bad reputation from new readers.. which is impossible

16. Jedi~El posted on 12 Dec 2008, 00:04

Now how much sense does that make? NONE! You can still state your pros or cons concerning the site or any topic being discussed even with the use of usernames. By the way, this is a great site! Nice picture of Neo, btw.

if you don't like this website, then don't go to it or comment. Just simply ignore the site. Running a web site is harder than you think, which you obviously don't appreciate.

This is great news and a welcomed addition to the site. Thanks PhoneArena!

Great stuff, so less abuse of the comments systems...

This is the dumbest thing ever. It was bad enough that they censor posts, but now you have to go through the hassle of signing in...such disappointment. That was the beauty of this site, it was like the last great bastian of internet sites that didn't require you to go through the hassle of signing in to post. Just get on, check out the latest news, post a quick comment, and then on to something else. I guess all good things must come to an end!

7. (unregistered) posted on 11 Dec 2008, 11:12

Hmmm I just did....

8. (unregistered) posted on 11 Dec 2008, 11:13

Yea you can still reply without signing in...... You guys will have to fix that!!

9. Mayday3420 posted on 11 Dec 2008, 11:26

This is very very sucky. How does signing in prevent people from bantering and going "off topic?" In case you haven't noticed, it doesn't do any good at any other site. I think they are just doing this so they specificly don't get as much negative feedback about the site, articles and reviews.

10. (unregistered) posted on 11 Dec 2008, 11:39

I think it's a perfect idea, what bad can come from it? If you want to post that bad taking a few extra seconds to sign in isnt going to stop you. IMO it will stop people who post nothing but garbage all the time. If it stops just a few people it's completely worth it in my eyes. The only reason I'm posting under anon is because I actually CAN'T login, apparently there are still some bugs to work out...

11. Mayday3420 posted on 11 Dec 2008, 11:50

It won't stop anyone, I mean come on, really? people love to be heard whether they have anything to say or not. I seriously just think it is to help the negative comments about the site.

15. (unregistered) posted on 11 Dec 2008, 21:32

If they suspend users who are just spamming more than commenting, then it will greatly reduce the number of spamming.

6. vividshimmer posted on 11 Dec 2008, 10:20

This is long overdue. Yaaay for phone arena.

12. vzw fanman posted on 11 Dec 2008, 14:54

it's still better because now we can distinguish between the anonymouses. and actually reference usernames instead of anon. just to put it out there, myspace is for loners, facebook is better

14. jmweekes posted on 11 Dec 2008, 19:07

Off topic and even the bantering piss contests don't bug me so much, and can to some extent entertain me. It's the senseless cruelty of some people that I just don't understand. It will be very interesting to see if the sign-on requirement helps (a bit of a psychological study in and of itself). I don't see how this could have much if anything to do with preventing negative comments about the site--I don't see much of that as it is. Also, painfully obvious, but with cookies enabled and checking "Remember me", you don't have to worry about signing on all the time, at least not from a personal computer. Thanks PhoneArena!

Although, the "My Phonearena" feature is a WELCOME addition. I would have possitioned this move as a means of enhancing the experience at phonearena, not a cure for off topic remarks. Which it isn't. Way to go Phonearena, nice enhancement, poor possitioning/pitch.

18. Big Red posted on 12 Dec 2008, 10:49

If I could make a request? Add more functionality to the "My Phonearenea" feature. It would be cool if we could add things like, what carrier we use, what phones we use/have used, stuff like that. Seriously. Think about it. I'm tempted to throw a few sware words in here to help ensure a moderator reads this and passes it on...
