Pegatron CEO says entry level iPhone price will be 'still high', easing the shareholders' pain

The CEO said that "the price is still high," basically indicating that Apple might do with its entry level iPhone what it did with the iPad mini, skimping mostly on specs rather than design, and pricing it above the competition's offerings...

i like how he admits that the overall price of an apple iphone is high. i like apple but ain;t spending that much funds on a smartphone that is like a walled garden.

it would still be nice to see a variety of iphone models and sizes 4.3, 4.5,4.7 or even 5 inch. 4 inch in portrait way too tall apple, the iphone some hips.

A despearation move. In a market with products that have clearly surpassed the iPhone, they see a high price (which it is) as the only way to keep their revenues up. A counter productive measure, as even diehard iPhone users in larger numbers have started to make the switch to Samsung and others. I'm in the industry and see the REAL numbers daily.

to maximize profit. imagine how much money they would have saved if they had used a plastic housing on the iPhone 5. that's pretty much what the CEO was trying to say...

So it'll be like:
- iPhone 5S : $699
- iPhone "Lite": $549?
Meh. Just go for a WP or Android. (if you're not like me and 132415145143241324- inch screens are your friends... as for me, I'll hold onto my dumbphone for a while, because I'm not buying anything above 4~4.3 inches with hardware power, since I couldn't care less for FHD humongous, battery slayer screens)

Note II has a 5.5" screen with a guaranteed all day battery life. Droid Razr MAXX HD has a 21 hour battery life when used heavily, HTC One has all day battery life along with Galaxy S4.
Those days where battery life was an issue are gone.

As someone who sells smartphones, Apple needs to realize by now that it's not the price of the Iphone that's the problem, it's the lack of innovation and technology versus the monthly plan prices people pay for what the Iphone offers that's the problem! We can sit here all day going back and forth about screen size, specs, battery life, etc-the bottom line is that the Android operating system gives you everything you could possibly want at 95% free with their apps while continuing to evolve on a weekly basis while Iphones do nothing at all that would or should make a person want to buy one for a 2 year contract! Their name sells but ask Blackberry what happens when you live off your name instead of actually doing the very work that had you there at the top for a while! The Samsung S 4 and Note 2 are by far 2 of the best smartphones in the World and not just because of their price but because of what they offer to everyone black, white, male, female, rich, poor, smart and dumb!!
