$16.5 million to them = $1 to us. I wish I had that kind of money.

A bit confusing. $16.5M to us = $1 to them. Isn't it more like that?

'Apple also continues to owe €5 million EUR ($6.9 million USD) for iPads sold in France during 2011.'
What is 5 millions to a multi billions company?
Yes! Please pay up, Apple!

So this can be regarded as tax fraud? Isn't it a serious offence? Common France! Demand $300 million dollars. Apple deserves it!!

The truth will always be out there!
Apple cant hide from theirs hypocritically side and all lies about exchange rates, my ass. Billions in bank and still damn greedy. The sad, peoples are buying theirs damn lies!
If they just get it straight out, that reason of price raise and no one would care. Peoples will still buy theirs devices.
Let see if this hypocritically company will drops the prices, when exchange rates changes in US dollar favor.

So Samsung "steals" electricity and Apple "avoids" taxes. Who's copying who?

So apple is charging more for iphones in France and still not paying their taxes?
This 16.5m + the 6m already owed is nothing compared to the $1b+ corporate taxes that apple dodges by operating out of Ireland (on paper only).
Apple will probably just appeal for the next 10 years, "you're taxing us wrong"

I hate apple, but they aren't really wrong here. Why should an "author", or whomever, get paid for works that might never be used on these devices? However, this is just giving apple a taste of their own BS "infringement" medicine. Too everyone saying it's just chump change, think about this next time you go to buy a device. They will pass the cost along to the consumer, not just "eat the losses". So in essence, that is these so called "authors" stealing from the average citizen because they feel their work should be compensated even if it sucks. This is BS. Even if it is against apple.

Its the rules of the game even if it's bs. In France you have to pay this tax if you want to sell a media product. What is bs is that apple refuses to play by the same rules as every other manufacturer.

The rules are BS. That's my point. Apple, along with many other companies should refuse to do business there until the laws are changed. I know if I were a CEO, I would. Also, we don't know if this is a retroactive law. So they could basically be using it to milk the producers of money just like the RIAA/MPAA/BMI/etc. do here. I'm with apple on this one. I would tell the French to get bent. I would take my ball and go home. With the iSheep following, apple as that kind of clout in the "artsy" community where this is being driven from. Just my .02.
