Pantech Matrix PRO coming to AT&T
AT&T has a pleasant surprise for all hardcore texting fans. Those, who have enjoyed the Pantech DUO, will be also able to get their hands on the upcoming Pantech Matrix PRO. The handset will measure 21.6 mm in profile and its key feature will be the double sliding mechanism that will slide sideways to show the full QWERTY keyboard and straight to reveal the numeric keypad.

In addition, users will have the opportunity to take advantage of a 2-megapixel camera, built-in GPS (with AT&T Navigator), Bluetooth, HSDPA and Video Share support. The Matrix PRO will be smart and will run Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard operating system.

The new Pantech device will be available starting February 24, through AT&T’s company-owned stores and online at a price of $179.99 with a two-year service agreement and a $50 mail-in rebate.

So basically, what Samsung and Pantech's strategies are...is to make smartphone versions (Propel PRO & Matrix PRO) out of their dumbphone counterparts (Propel and Matrix). Interesting. I guess it's for business people that want the style of a dumbphone, but the usability of a smartphone.
