It's been a over a month since we last heard anything new regarding the Pantech Escapade WP8990VW world phone for Verizon. Today we heard from a Verizon tipster that the device is now listed in their system with a release date of Friday August 21st, but unfortunately pricing is still missing. The Escapade will be joining the Samsung Renown as the only two Verizon dumb-phones with CDMA and GSM support for world travling while using the included Vodafone SIM card. Too bad the Escapade will not come with EVDO or a microSD card slot, both of which are found on the Renown.

I think this is meant for the elderly traveler who doesn't need anything more than a phone to make and receive calls both domestic and abroad. It has its purpose, limited as it may be.
