For a while there, some people were optimistic about the Palm name living on with future devices; despite HP’s acquisition of the long time smartphone/PDA company. Even today, word has it that the Palm Pre 2...

Looks like HP is kin to Bill Gates. Just as he pretty much bought software that someone a whole lot smarter than him created and marketed it under his companies name. HP lacks the intelligence to create such a fine OS so they had to purchase it and label it as their own and pretty much not give an y credit to the original authors. Way to go HP, you branded a product you didn't create. You will be lucky if anyone buys it since they will probably think it sucks cause your name is all over it. You would do better to leave Palm on it so people know that brilliance developed it.

dude, get your story straight. Either HP could have gone with a build of Android or Windows Phone 7. Or they bought out a Mobile OS with a history to be the OS flagship for its brand. I dont see HP being able to buy Android or WP7. So choice were simple Palm webOS or S^3. And since S^3 is kinda of floating in the water to the point that even Nokia is going to most likely drop it webOS was the smart choice. Secondly sir, Kin was not Bill Gates but Steve Ballmer. So fail as well. Lastly, if you spend several millions dollars on a product you would your name all over it as well. So I say good day, I said good day.

I will not buy a Pre 3 unless they have Palm on the device. Palm fans are very loyal, why would you want to kill the brand Palm. What brand has loyal fans like Palm that will stay with a device due to be, no one. Webos is a great, make your mobile devices say Palm, name your PC and printer HP, don't kill the Palm name through good and bad. I really hope HP rethinks dropping the Palm name, I feel comfortable with a Palm device, not HP. I look at HP as a computer make nit a cell phone maker.

I agree, keep Palm. Palm is well known in the mobile world, not HP.

I love HP, great pcs have come out of this company but I would not buy a phone with there bame on it. You have apple,HTC,Samsung, HP is new to the block. They would be better off keeping the Palm brand to make everyone happy. It's not like consumers don't know that HP is the parent
