Palm jumps on the bandwagon and launches app store

Following behind Apple and Android, and just prior to the launch of the anticipated Nova OS, Palm has launched its very own application store. According to the company, the new program boasts over 5,000 individual software titles for download on Windows Mobile and Palm OS powered devices. Though we're not sure why they didn't launch something of this nature earlier, it will certainly add to a more complete package when (and if) Palm launches new devices and Nova.
Only time will tell if these steps will provide a breath of fresh air for Palm, considering the long struggle that they've had to keep up with other manufacturers.

How many people really want to pay $14.99 to play checkers or $24.99 to have a program calculate your payment on a loan? I'll pay $4 to $6 for phone apps to have a video game or such but the high price of PDA apps makes them less appealing.
