Pathetic. This is exactly what Apple has done with the iPhone.

very tru, but apple is smart enough to know that they still have a cult like following...something the pre doesnt have anymore.

precentral.com don't kid yourself bucky. it's just about 1/64th the size of apple's fan base

It's kind of funny how the few intelligent people left in the world are not getting Android and iOS phones and following other sheeple like yourself. Doesn't need to be the most popular thing on the block to be a good device that you can show loyalty to.

You don't have to be a genius to know that your hard earned money (not your parents money) should be supported properly. It's not being a sheep but rather making sure that it's backed because the company is still making money.

Probably not, since a 1Ghz chip is probably needed to run the additional functionality of webOS 2.0.

Palm says that "the webOS 2.0 update will be delivered to existing customers in the coming months," but what that exact timeline will be is still unclear. This statement can be found on PreCentral, so it sounds to me as though WebOS 2.0 will be released for the Pre 1 and Pixi (and their + variants).

They are not stupid... If they release webOS 2.0 NOW, I may not buy their new phone.. Say what you want. The Palm Pre' is a very nice alternative, it gets the job done..

Oh it's more than a nice alternative! I recently jumped from the Droid Eris (rooted with a fantastic Froyo rom) to the Pre Plus and man I wish I would have just gotten this right away WebOS is so damn intuitive and easy to use! The multitasking is simply amazing and it still completely blows Android and iOS out of the water the way it did when the Pre was first introduced, which was like what a year ago now? The whole Android craze Verizon kicked off really sucked the life out of WebOS and I truly hope with the backing of HP and the copious amounts of money they can bring to the table that WebOS gets the kind of attention it deserves.

Anything HP touches turns to absolute shit. Look at Compaq. I feel bad for Palm, it sucked in the first place, now it has it's own coffin.

ummm... HP made Compaq bad?... really? in my experience, Compaq was the worst computer you could buy... so why HP acquired compaq and kept it alive is beyond me.. I have had nothing buy good experiences with my HP printers, Desktops, Laptops, and WinMo phones in the past few years... so... your comment is garbage. They aren't the Number 1 computer and server distribution company in the world becuase they sell bad merchandise. I hope WebOS can make a come back...but I think this form factor only appeals to a few people... I want a 4-5 inch tablet of a phone.. Sans physical keyboard. I think on screen typing is faster and 3rd party alternatives allow for finding personal preferences, like SWYPE! Palm, diversify your webOS offerings, keep this model as some people like it, make a larger screen 3.5-5" landscape QWERTY, and a 3.5-5" slate/tablet form factor. 3 different phones running the same OS expands your market to 3 times its current size.

oh my, as fantastic as the os may be, palm needs a bang .... we're no highest-paid marketing executives at hpalm but it doesnt make sense why they're not introducing a new design considering it was all a flop...the 1ghz is fine, just need a new stunning hardware

hey the palm is awesome you guys are just haters of anything that doesnt have an i in front of it. if it was the ipalm, you would all be j ing off to it...
nothing but hypocrital phone bashing losers on this site.. everyone is entitled to their opinion on the phone they like just because it doesnt have an i or a stupid looking green trash can looking robot icon doesnt mean its a bad phone
palm is known for reliability and simplicity, neither iphone or android can boast both.
ill give you this ... palm def. had the creepiest adds bar none!
