PCD TXT8030 does the Twist
Chubby Checker would be very proud of the PCD TXT8030. The device looks like your average candy bar styled handset albeit with an aging feature set that includes a 2.2 inch screen and a 1.3MP camera. There is support for a 16GB microSD card and the handset has a physical QWERTY which is where the fun begins. The bottom half of the model swivels to reveal the QWERTY keyboard and when you're done sending off that important email or text, you twist the device and a speaker with music controls twists to the front of the phone. A D-pad stays on the same side as the display. The CDMA device was on display at the CTIA show and is expected out in the third quarter of this year. Carrier availability and price were not disclosed.

Every time I see one of these silly gimmicky handsets I think about VZW saying "its going to be something you've never seen".

What happened to the second one? Maybe it's the same idea between xbox and xbox 360. Needs to sound newer...

Just like the UpStage, the idea sounds god on paper...but it always fails in execution.

how will everything work if it has to swivel all the time the wires will get worn down and break or the phone will snap in half.

6. artz1986 posted on 05 Apr 2009, 09:41

Well, it'll work just like any other slide up or swivel [ala Side Kick] phone. Plus, who's to say the wires aren't contained in a cylinder in the middle of the swiveling bottom, that would make sense..
