By no means is this the first time we've heard about spontaneously combusting cell phones, but this latest one involving a Samsung Rogue clearly details the results...

holey sheeeeeeeeet! wow, u can see where the seat creased through the phone.. that phone was STUCK. remind me not to crush a battery any time soon..

This article is retarded. Why not talk about how if you drop a phone off the bridge it will break. Of course this phone would have exploded if you smash the darn battery. Anything that has a battery attached to it and smashed will explode. This guy shouldn't get any money because the manufacturer does warn you not to put pressure on the battery.

Reminds me of the Kyocera batteries and their tendency to explode for no apparent reason....guess thats why they don't make phones no more!

Judging by how some of the pictures are taken outside by his car, I am going to safely assume the it was left on his seat or dashboard and the sun beat down at it while he was at work or something. It sais not to leave it in direct sun light- I am also willing to venture that he isnt taking responsibility for it since its so "freakishly strange" that it happened....

That's lithium for you....very volatile matierial, if exposed to air or water, rapidly heats up, an can cause very serious burns, meth manufactuers use it for flameless cooking of their product....I suspect that battery had issues before he slid the seat into it, and cracking the case was simply the catalyst that set it off.

hmm malfunction when he crushed the battery.. lemme crush a battery and see what it does

"You can look at the photos yourself and judge the severity of the explosion as it's speculated that there was some kind of malfunction with the battery that led to the explosion..." We're going to go out on a limb and say something happened with the battery... Way to go Phone Arena.

Serves the dumbass right for first of all losing his phone like he loses his 3 year old and then crunching it between his seat and whatever else. I swear some people are just irresponsible. Thats like saying "Oh I had this propane tank and I accidentally shot it with a shotgun and it exploded!" Im sure he will try suing someone.

you're stupid, i'm sorry. everyone looses they're phone occasionally. i know mine has fallen between the seat before. it happens.

Wow iheartblueberry, you seriously have to be the smartest person in the world. I wish I could be just like you with that spectacular brain of yours. But honestly, I think you've been living under the power lines to long...

LOL, why do I have to be "sensitive" about this morons problem? If your so sensitive go find him and help him out. Apparently this has been a very damaging experience. Yes people lose phones. Personally I have never done such a thing because I take care of my belongings. Honestly the guy probably thought it was pretty cool and didn't make an issue out of it. But there are others that will go into a store, stand there and lie about it right to a rep's face. People are stupid, irresponsible and expect everything and congratulations... All that have replied to my post fit in this description.

you should be in record books! "Only man on Earth who's never lost anything!" Why have I never heard of you!?!

I'll back you up blueberry...I too look after my stuff and I have never lost my phone...it is always within arms reach...I will not resort however to name calling...unlike some of your detractors...I do feel for the guy, but come on...

Not really news... if you run over or in any way compromise the integrety of any battery its probably going to explode or at least react negitively. Looks like a fun thing to try with an old phone though

My question to the whole thing is this..... with an "explosion" like this, what happened to his seat and center console? There is no way you can tell me that there was no damage done to the car!! I would have to agree that the dumbass probably left it on the dash of his car, and prest-o, change-o, you have what we like to call post toasties.
