Just a couple of days we heard about Ouya, the first completely open game console that’s running on Android, and now it’s almost a reality - it arrived on Kickstarter…

nono, I hardly think it would beat any of them right now (despite the good price point) I could beat the apple gaming console (cmon it was lame ), you just sad because there is no shiny apple logo on it

nope not an apple fanboy...lol
i believe xbox is the king of consoles...
my comment was geared toward android folks who thinks its better than any product in the world... (basically becoming the same thing they hate about apple fanatics)...
but i do agree its a great price point!

Believe it or not, some Android fans do actually have opinions other than "Android is the best". Android is the leader in mobile, gaming consoles; not at all. It's a fantastic idea, but it's still in development, and will definitely need some kinks worked out. I'm an Xbox fan all the way, so I won't be looking at this until it it is more developed. Still love Android though

I strongly agree with Berzerk. I am a die-hard Android fan, but I love the beautiful layout of Windows phone and what Windows 8 will be (Running Windows 8 Release Preview on my PC) but I like all Apple products, but not iOS. The simple design of the iPhone looks good but I can't stand the blandness of iOS.

I'll stick with Wii
it may look like android fans cheer up for everything android, but the truth is they all have their teams they cheer up for.... android is not a phone is an OS and manufacturers translate the OS to something they consider will attract their public.... so there will be people that will like a certain device

How ironic!

You know, this is a very good idea to have in your dorm. On those boring weeknights, imagine playing multiplayer on N.O.V.A. 3 or Brothers in Arms 2. I call this a steal of a deal lol. With the prices that Gameloft charges you for their games, hell a console system would be perfect

Seriously the name Sucks terribly...
The Concept is good
I'm glad they are giving Microsoft more ideas for the Next-Xbox
However the smartphone hardware industry is changing at fast pace, and quality games are optimized for powerful hardware, so if you wanna have a consolize smartphone, you'll have to buy new one every year in order to keep your are self up to date with latest quality games.
PC Market suffers same fate, every 3years you'll need new hardware along with some games that are badly ported like GTA4.

really, except for the playstation, all of the console names suck. X box? Wii? LOL. Ouya is certainly not any worse than those.

Meh, I'm sticking with Sony and PlayStation till the bitter end.

The bitter end?
As far as I know, PS3 is still the best console out there!
So no "bitter end" soon..

Huh, I almost forgot console-fanboyism still existed. It's like I stepped into a time-warp back to sixth-grade.

The seniors in my high school last year fought over whose console is better. It's quite funny actually, the 8th graders jumped in the argument too

Uh, terrible idea really. Phone games in general are just 99cent trivial flickfests anyway. Not designed for television or extended play. Those more expensive 3D titles are nothing compared to actual console games, in breadth and quality. Android games are even worse, since alot of analytics show most are either freemium games or poorly supported games that devs don't put the effort into because the payoff is so small, since many Android users are cheapskates when it comes to buying software. Then there's compatbiliity and optimization issues with an open platform.
The biggest kicker of all though (haha, kickstarter, pun intended), is piracy. To get console quality games, the price of games are gonna go up, and so is the piracy level. It's not a big deal for a 99c game, and a lot of times they are on sale for even cheaper, so it's not worth a leecher's time to deal with finding and downloading that pirated apk. But once it gets to say $10-$20 or more, on an open platform like Android, devs are just gonna roll their eyes. The same reason why most big gaming companies have abandoned the PC, for the reliability and security of set and protected hardware. The PC has MMOs, lousy console ports, and indie games. The big players have jumped shipped a long time ago. They aren't gonna look at something like Android, which is even more open, as the next big thing.
