Our impressions of the Verizon iPhone 4S

0. phoneArena 26 Oct 2011, 13:33 posted on

Now have the Verizon model of the iPhone 4S and have used it for a few days, we wanted to give you our impressions of it. The 3.5" IPS TFT Retina Display on the iPhone 4S remains unchanged - while most of its Android competitors are at 4" or larger. Be that as it may, the quality is stunning, as text and images are incredibility clear and sharp.

Oh yeah, like some Android phones don't have poor battery life. It's amazing, they can do all of these things, and yet they can not survive that long without having to recharge again.

Here's an idea - get a case and stop whining about it. Honestly, if you're that paranoid about a phone dropping, then buy a case.

Course, I know you're doing this to try and rib the iPhone, but let's just say for this instance I believe the tripe coming out your mouth.

You really think Android phones aren't fragile as well lol?

@sniggly. Yes, a phone is not a vase. But we're talking about materials here. And the iphone is made of glass just like expensive vases are. Some people prefer aesthetics over durability. Glass does feel and look better than plastic. But of course, if you're a clumsy fellow, you should stick with plastic :)

Really? Who told you that lie? You can clearly see it doesn't hold up to a drop like the GS2 or have you not seen this video?

By the way here is a link to Corning's (The maker of Gorilla Glass) web site and you can see that Apple is not listed anywhere on there. :)

The GNex doesn't have Gorilla Glass so it guess it sucks with durability as well right?

@tmach. Read the posts. Android fanboys attack the ip4s. There was no post saying that it's the best. Not even the article. Only when provoked by an android fanboy did someone say that it's the best. So stop playing innocent. You android fanboys are the ones provoking iphone users.

I must say, the claim that "iPhone is best" is quite anomalous. I very rarely see that. The idea is projected that many websites are filled with that but to be honest, seldom will you see individuals saying that.

apple has peaked as a company their creative "apple" has left. Most importantly, generally things on itunes can be found elseware, movies, music, etc..can be found for cheaper on amazon and other similar markets. Cant patent digital down loads they better start to find other things to patent cause the only thing left is just their trend and trends fall hard. Innovation is not there as before, better put their capital into r&d and not ridiculous" legal fees for patents. Someone else on here said this before "
iphone is nothing more than a glorified app launcher" regardless of carrier

You android fanboys have been saying this every year. Yet the iphone remains a strong name. If Apple stops innovating, there will be nothing for android to copy, lol. Who's coming up with their own Siri-like native app again in the beginning of next year. Oh yes, it's google, lol. And what's up with the glorifies app launcher? Is that a new moniker that you android fanboys cooked up for the iphone? What do android phones do? Don't they launch apps as well? Or is android just a widget organizer, lol.

Lol I have to admit, that was pretty funny “widget launcher” but copied or not copied let me break it down to you, no one ever created anything man takes existing items and just manipulates them and through each manipulation an innovative idea is emerged. All I know is that the apple iphone is a solid built phone and it definitely feels good in the hands and doesn’t lag much. Iphones are great for those who are not that affluent with technology and want simplicity, android phones on the other hand are made for those who have a little more curiosity in technology and tolerance. Android based phones have a harmonic balance between simple and complex. And I personally find that android phones have more utility than an iphone. So its all about preference I just get annoyed when the majority of people think the iphone is the best phone of all time and when you ask them why they cant answer you or if they do answer you they cant provide any solid basis what can an iphone do better than an android phone, you can say I am anti sheer ignorance definitely not a fanboy. You have to be very ignorant to say iphone 4s is innovative. Iphone 4s, "s" stands for sorry peeps we ran out of ideas we are just going to patent everything going forward lol

@warlock. You make it sound like android users do something with their android phones that's totally our of this world. Besides making phone calls, texting, sending photos, social sites, email, youtube, web browsing, games, music, calendar, reminders, taking pictures/videos and apps. What else do android users do with their android phones that makes them so much more affluent in technology than iphone users? BT file transfer? Lol.

Stop it already. We all use our phones pretty much the same way. Unless of course you can tell me that an android phone can show tomorrow's headlines. Or your android phone can browse the web as to who's going to win in tomorrow's games. Or maybe your android phone can reply to emails even before you open one. Lol.

Aye you and the other two are really emotionally attached to the iphone man thats weird its a phone lol I have said positive comments about the iphone and expressed my preference. All you did is catch feelings lol I see plenty of android users on this site who also say some positive things about the iphone but you, R truth's best friend and taco bell are really ignorant. one thing to love apple but its another to not give credit where credit is due. Have fun with your solid build no battery life 4s phone. I on the other hand will keep an open mind to anything that is innovative not rehashed ideas.

Agreed. These phones all basically do the same thing, just look different. All the extensive features of phones no one really uses. For instance, the HTC HD2 didn't have a front camera while its predecessor did. Evidently, it was a feature hardly used then as it is now. These phones aren't the same, but very similar.

Once again, seldom do I hear people say iPhone is best. I hear that from Android users all the time though. For instance, Engadget posts articles saying "How would you change the [insert phone here]" and what do people say? "Put Android on it." These supposed iPhone fans that many speak of are practically nonexistent on these websites.

What is android innovating? Aren't they just adding incremental features?

World according to fandroids:

Every iPhone has to completely redifine the phone or it's a fail

Minor upgrades on androids such as spec bumps and minor feature updates are revolutionary innovation

@taco. Android fanboys are delusional. You have to remember taco. Android fanboys were die hard symbian lovers. And what did iphone do to symbian again? Pretty much killed it. Symbian fanboys are the most stubborn bunch and they are full of pride. Android, or any touch optimized platform, that can rival the iphone is their saving grace. Watch how they will be very lenient with nokia wp phones :)

Im so glad i didn't get this phone. iPhone rly needs to step it up that 3.5" rly needs to be upgraded to at least 4" I'm rly disappointed that they didn't change the design basically history repeats itself with iPhone. the iPhone 3g looks the same as 3gs and the same goes for the iPhone 4 and 4s, but i do have to say they have always do a good job with the camera

The androids are not buggy. By the term issues it is meant that the previous androids had some deficiency in usability which have been fixed in the new version. And there will be more improvements in the next versions. Android knows that there is always scope for improvements. By the way, iOS is buggy too along with antennagate and now the batterygate in the all new iphone. New iphone with new problems. :)

When you bring a classic style back twenty years later, it's a good thing. When you do it sixteen months later, it's called cheap and uninspired. It's always heartbreaking when a great piece of technology has a fatal flaw. The 4S has three: it is identical to its predecessor; it has a 3.5" screen which is not top-tier; it doesn't have 4G. Its on the best 4G network in the US and it doesn't have 4G? What the... ? Stuck on stupid much?

I don't blame anyone for being an Apple fan. Different strokes. But Apple screwed you on this phone. If you can't admit it, then take comfort that you're not alone. Allow me to introduce you to the battered wives of the Droid X2.
