Original Moto X (2013) gets Android 7.0 Nougat through CyanogenMod CM14
If there's one major downside of Android versus iOS, it's that the firmware shelf-life is considerably shorter. Apple's iPhone 5, for example, runs the very latest iOS 10, despite the fact that the former is in its fifth year since release. Android 7.0 Nougat, comparatively, feels like an exclusive club. Still, while there's a good chance your two-or-more-year-old Android device won't get Nougat in an official capacity, the thriving dev community continues to defy the rule book. Following the likes of the OnePlus 3 and Google Nexus 4, the original Moto X (2013) has found an unofficial route to Nougat Land via CyanogenMod 14.

The unofficial CM14 ROM for the Moto X is still a work-in-progress, so if you use this handset as your daily driver, you'll want to steer clear for now. Plenty of features are reportedly functional, including Wi-Fi, camera, sensors, Bluetooth and flash. For now, the mic is not working, and you'll need to use a third-party camera app if you wish to record videos.

If you have a spare Moto X lying around and want to breathe new life into it, you may wish to give this a whirl. Should you be interested, you can find more details at the source link below.

Oh, and if you do try it out on your Moto X, be sure to let us know how you get on in the comments.
