Oppo Find 5 one-ups the HTC J Butterfly with a 5" 1080 screen in a 6.9mm chassis, yours for $478

The Oppo Find 5, just surpassed our expectations, leaking out with full specs pegging it with less than 7mm thin chassis. The HTC J Butterfly sports a 9mm casing, for comparison's sake, and the price of $478 for the 16 GB version of the Oppo Find 5 will make you smile even further. The full specs list is also out, and it's a riot...

at $478 for those awesome specs i think it'll be a rather juicy lemon :)

oppo find design is much better than htc butterfly.the questions arises are about build quality & fast updates to be provided.i think this device would be a hit if above 2 questions are answered satisfactorily with vanilla android integrated in it.

well even if its all plastic / polycarbonate like the One X its good enough for me as most flagships are made of plastic.
And Google along with every major company wants to penetrate probably the biggest market in the world so I guess yeah the chinese will be receiving timely updates.
Both my opinions are based purely on my insanely flawed logic :)

build quality and design are definitely better on the HTC.......and since this is a name brand we are all not to sure about........The HTC with its flaws and price are still looking like the better choice

You might be surprised at Oppo. Do some Web crawling of their blu-ray players and you will find they are quite highly regarded in the A/V space. Blu-ray players require continual updates so they should be used to keeping device software up to date.
25. kpkelley posted on 18 Oct 2012, 08:27 3
Oppo makes some of the Blu-ray players on the market. If the wireless division maintains anything close to the build quality and customer service of the electronics division, then we should all be quite satisfied. As for update frequency as a responder below asked, I can say that their firmware updates on their blu-ray players are frequent. In fact, they make their beta firmware available to the public on their blu-ray players in case they run in to an issue which hasn't been resolved by the most recent official firmware release.

Not bad at all, 5 inch screen is perfect for me. Not too big to hold it in my hands for hours. Not too small either. :P

Looks like we all need to visit China and Japan very often...These countries should market phones exclusivity to go along wid tourism boost! On a more serious note, cant wait to get my hands on these 1080p creatures!!!
5. mohamed_noor posted on 18 Oct 2012, 06:46 0
wtf did I just read full hd screen? woah !! HTC butterfly will break the records for sure (atleast for sometime) its another beast . way cool ! but 2500mah for a massive display won't be enough I guess(HTC's common error)
44. thunder18 posted on 18 Oct 2012, 19:54 0
Too bad the HTC J Butterfly battery is only 2020 mAh.
6. MeoCao (unregistered) posted on 18 Oct 2012, 06:49 0
This is breathtaking, how they achieve this is beyond me.
I want 1.
8. Bozzor posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:01 0
If they are using the Sharp IGZO screen, then 2500 mAh may well be more than enough for more than a full day's usage, as IGZO technology drains batteries at a far lower rate than previous technologies...
23. kartik4u98 posted on 18 Oct 2012, 08:19 0
Hmm..good point
Can you please provide some info. or proof regarding this?(IGZO screen's battery management?
46. bayusuputra posted on 18 Oct 2012, 20:06 0
And the Krait S4 Pro is also draining less battery than Tegra 3 or Exynos..

oppo has toooooooo long from htc & cant compete with HTC..
11. wendygarett posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:12 1
ZTE just at bottom of HTC in market share... There are no 5 and 4 respectively...
If HTC take no action, then say hello to oppo :)
12. tiara6918 posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:26 0
I don't think htc will fall to the bottom anytime at all. Oppo is just starting with making their smartphones and unfortunately most of their products are not sold internationally that's why their market share is not as high compared with the other competing manufacturers.
16. wendygarett posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:38 0
China alone will definitely wins against all manufacture because of huge population, fortunately most Chinese are smart enough to pick Lenovo instead because, ZTE is government link company while Lenovo is independent, and most Chinese dont wanna sacrifice as tax payer so... Lenovo FTW!!! :D
17. wendygarett posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:41 1
Oh ya, the latest news also says that HTC is finally surpass iphone in China... Market shares is 7% and 6% respectively Lolol

I hope that PA will have the chance to do a review of this phone, that oppo find looks neat and slim!
13. someones4 posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:31 0
htc got knocked down so soon? If oppo has a micro sd slot, it will raise the bar for smartphones again. Show me yours, samsung
14. wendygarett posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:34 0
The butterfly also has the micro sd too for your information lol
20. someones4 posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:47 0
neither model is confirmed to be available globally though. only samsung or lg have the capacity for making these phones widely available. lg has some kind of vendetta against micro sd though..
15. ajac09 posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:36 0
man all the chinease clone phones are starting to look almost worth buying. Has anyone seen the gs3 and iphone 5 clones? Some of those are sporting high end quad cores to bad no world wide LTE.. yet
18. loken posted on 18 Oct 2012, 07:42 0

who really wants an unknown chinese device?
anyway.. it will be block by US like ZTE and Huawei!
24. speckledapple posted on 18 Oct 2012, 08:20 0
To be honest, who cares about a phone or device from a very unknown company in the majority of the world that will not be available anywhere outside one area only?
41. darac posted on 18 Oct 2012, 15:21 1
some idiot thumbed you down for saying this?
this phone is 2MM THINNER THAN HTC AND HAS 400MAH LARGER BATTERY
tHis phone is INCREDIBLE
49. Captain_Doug posted on 19 Oct 2012, 00:21 1
Even the First droid razr was thicker and had a smaller battery. Serious tech in this phone.
29. jackhammeR posted on 18 Oct 2012, 10:47 0
weird size...not for me. it's rather a phablet or something
30. tarmpung posted on 18 Oct 2012, 11:13 0

33. tombcd posted on 18 Oct 2012, 11:29 0
At least it has 2500 mAh battery (which I still think should be ~3000 mAh), contrary to HTC's 2k mAh.
34. IHateApple posted on 18 Oct 2012, 11:43 0
Take that Samsung! Thats how thin, large phones are made! The Note 2 is a larger phone than Oppo Finder. Yet it is thicker. The Note 2 uses a thinner Super AMOLED, yet it us thicker than Oppo Finder.
Plus it is a slap in the face to Apple. :D

Those song tags, Numb Encore by Eminem what? Either it's shopped or Eminem covered the Cover or someone has no clue what he's listening to.
...or Jay-Z fused with Linkin Park resulting in Eminem.
37. scorpeyun posted on 18 Oct 2012, 12:22 0
Nice phone! I just hope that it makes it way to the US. With SoftBank taking over Sprint who knows..... probably more like wishful thinking...lol
38. bigstrudel posted on 18 Oct 2012, 12:32 0
It will run terribly optimized software that will cripple the real potential of the device. Just like every other superphone that's come out of China.
39. Twisted247 posted on 18 Oct 2012, 12:56 0
On paper and in theory it looks like a phenomenal phone, but coming as a first release from a company and probably the first gen for a public release for their software it could be complete garbage plagued with problems.
When a company is releasing a first time product they need to prove themselves before i will put down my money. I will make sure its been available for a good 2months +, then obviously check sites and forums especially cause the users will complain to the forums usually far before the tech sites pick it up.
So even if it drops in the States where I am, I will let it do its thing before I even leave to play with it in the store. In all actuality I am getting the Galaxy Note 2 anyways so BOOM!
48. rizevnarastek posted on 18 Oct 2012, 23:53 0
This is giving HTC no excuse to use such a small battery. It's thinner than J Butterfly but packs "the same specs" and a bigger battery.
50. Kish18 posted on 19 Oct 2012, 07:54 0
Oppo Find seems amazing.. But I can't see it all being perfect, there must be a fault to it.. But if there isn't, thne well done to Oppo :P
And HTC need to get bigger batteries.. This battery seems tiny, but even the One X has a small battery
