Opera Mini now available from BlackBerry App World
The Opera Mini browser has long been available to BlackBerry users from the software firm's mobile website (m.opera.com). To make things easier, BlackBerry users can now find Opera Mini 6.5 (the current version of the browser) directly on BlackBerry App World as a free download. The browser is in use on more than 160 million devices. The reason for such wide acceptance of the browser is its speed and the way web pages on your phone look just like they do on your desktop computer.

Opera Mini can also save you money. Because sites are loaded first on Opera's servers, only 10% of the data is transported to your phone while Opera does the heavy lifting. If you are on a data plan that requires you to watch every MB of data that you use, Opera Mini is a big help. The use of hot keys allows 'Berry users to scroll up and down very quickly using Opera Mini. Lars Boilesen, Chief Executive Officer, Opera Software said, "As the world’s most popular browser, we want to take every opportunity for people to have access to our browsers, regardless of the device."  For many BlackBerry users, the Opera Mini browser is a big upgrade from the stock browser on their device.

Even if Blackberry is classified as a "dying platform," this is good for Opera because it allows the browser to get more share. However, I agree with drahmad, Opera Mobile and Mini should both be ported to Windows Phone. Even though Internet Explorer Mobile 9 is fast on Windows Phone, it's never a bad thing to have some alternative web browsers.
