0. phoneArena 27 Apr 2013, 06:24 posted on

Can you handle watching what some might consider the top two smartphones in the world getting dropped to the ground in slow motion, with each impact and bounce hideously felt in the pit of your stomach? Check out the Samsung Galaxy S4 as it takes on the Apple iPhone 5 in a drop test; which flagship best handles a meeting with the ground...

Color me shocked, because I didn't make the connection between "Pro Apple" and "Android Authority" until you pointed it out. Thanks for that.

Not like you, always trolling around, posting negative bashing comments!

S4 was so lucky two times drop on the back, and still there is some people blame GG3.
Blame samsung bad build quality, because other plastic device can still survive form drop test even without GG3

The thinner bezel and the bigger display should make the S4 more vulnerable to shatters on impact.

The voice of common sense appears. While that may be true, the plastic body and removable back would eat up a lot of impact, whereas the aluminum will distort and transfer that force to the rest of the phone. I'm sure someone could sit down and calculate what the differences are, but I imagine that the bezel and glass size are probably close to the liability that aluminum and glass striking the ground are.

You got to give credit where credit is due. I hated Samsung devices like yourself but it's not Samsung's fault that all others have fell backwards. Was it Samsung that held a gun to HTC, Motorola, LG, Nokia and Apple's head not to make a better phone? Nokia could make a huge impact if they switch over to Android but they signed a deal with the devil. Apple could have cornered the market if they released more than one screen size. And where is the 1080P version of the Motorola Maxx to battle against the S4 and the One?
So don't hate Samsung because your favorite phone manufacturer is not living up to your expectations.

Disappointed again, If only Samsung can replace the gray plastic part of the phone (S3, S4, N2) with metal (Stainless Steel not Aluminium) and keep everything else plastic, that will keep the mass production running and will protect the screen from corners and no one will mind the extra 20-30 gr, the phone already very light.

Samsung makes everything cheap even parts. Samsung uses plastics for GS4 not b-c of its advantages over metal, they want to save money and make even more profits.
Why GS4 is so much more expensive than One? B-c of extra SD slot?
I think people are foolish to pay more for GS4 than HTC One.

These drop tests depends on luck. iPhone 5 vs HTC One drop test, the iPhone 5's screen shattered after the first waist height fall and in this one, the screen survived all three heights.

OMG!! Why you can't accept the truth and soo.. Closed minded.
Your beloved Company is sucks when it comes to build quality.

Let me show you the prove just check Iphone 5 vs S3 drop test video.
Iphone 5 feel on the same front edge from the same high (5 ft 6) but the Iphone still survive.
Even Iphone 5 survive from (5 ft 9) high drop test.

And please don't blame the GG3 because Corning never said GG unbreakable they only said GG is durable glass.
And why Iphone 5 can survive even without GG3???
The answer is sooooo..... fu***ng simple because Galaxy S4 build quality is sucks

The gizmoslip only drop it from about 4 ft high.
Androidauthority test is legit

the video is from androidauthority not appleauthority in that video you will see Iphone 5 fell on the front edge with the same high like the S4.

ifollower hahahah i never touch any apple product in my life, and now i'm GS2 and Galaxy Y user,
no matter what company you like fanboy is always stupid, closed minded, and never accept the truth.

Form 4', S3 was hit at screen corner and iPhone at back corner.

From 5', S3 again got hit at front corner, but there were 2 dents on the iPhone front and back. It's impossible at that moment for him to tell that the front was hit first on the iPhone.

let me tell you where Iphone got hit.
1. From pocket high you will see 1 dents on the front left corner
2. Mid high 4 ft 1 dents on on back corner
3. 5 ft 6 1 small dents on the front side and 1 big dents on the front corner.

And if you pause / Slow the video on test no 3 you will see that Iphone got hit on the front corner first

It's all about angle of impact and force of impact. I've seen plenty of iPhone 4s, 4Ses, and 5s come through with shattered screens.

If you drop either device on their face they'll shatter to pieces. It looks like the 5 got an angle of impact more favorable than the S4. What we need are displays made of transparent aluminum or something.

Perhaps Motorola will come out with a device that'll hold up better?

Iphone 5 proved more durable then s3. Unlikely that in both of these tests it was about angle of impact. More likely the iphone is more durable.

I'm talking about Build quality and you talking about Condoms (it usualy made of latex not plastic)what happen with you men why you said something stupid like that????

You are lie because there is many other material we used the most even your smartphone have display glass and metal.

Sony Xperia V it have removeable, expandable momory, water and dust resistant.

I'm not trying to force you to buy Xperia V.

I'm only showing to you that other manufacturer can do better

before your stupidity continues please read my comment about Aluminums
