OnePlus 5 price and release date

OnePlus has been on a bit of a hectic schedule as of late. The introduction of the OnePlus 3 in June 2016 was quickly followed up by the release of the OnePlus 3T in November of the same year, and now, 7 months later, another high-end device from the Chinese manufacturer has broken cover.

The newly announced OnePlus 5 truly looks like the embodiment of the company's "Never Settle" slogan. The handset packs the latest Snapdragon chipset, ungodly amounts of RAM, an intriguing dual-camera composition, and a refreshed design.

The above changes are undoubtedly welcome, but they also come hand in hand with a larger price tag. This time around, the company is employing an interesting approach where the different color versions of the OnePlus 5 will actually have different specifications and prices. The basic "Slate Gray" version sports 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while "Midnight Black" boasts 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM.

So, when can you expect the OnePlus 5 and how much would it cost you? Well, that depends on where you live. As such, let's take a look at the price and release dates for each major market.

In North America, the OnePlus 5 will be available for purchase in the USA and Canada. As it typically happens, people in the US will be able to grab the flagship for one of the lowest MSRPs out there. The Slate Gray version will come at $479 USD, while Midnight Black will carry a price tag of $539 USD. As for Canada, the two will cost $649 CAD and $719 CAD, which isn't that far off from prices in the States.

Okay, what about availability in Europe, then? The phone will be up for grabs in every current member state of the European Union. Compared to North American markets, both versions of the OnePlus 5 will be more expensive in Europe, which is a bit regrettable.

Here's the full list of countries - Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom. EFTA countries  (Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein) are officially excluded, but we have no doubt that anyone with a desire to buy the phone there won't have too much trouble doing so.

Things in Asia are a bit more interesting. As OnePlus operates and manufactures in China, the three official markets on the continent are first in line to receive units of the new flagship. The OnePlus 5 will premiere as an Amazon exclusive in India on June 22, 2017. A flash sale on Chinese retailer JD.com will occur on the same day, although we currently do not know the exact number of available devices. As for Hong Kong, the Slate Gray variant will sell for HK$3,688, while Midnight Black will go for HK$4,188.
