Android 7.0 Nougat is in the works for the OnePlus 3
OnePlus made lots of people happy when it recently revealed the OnePlus 3's Android 7.0 Nougat update is in the works. OnePlus is renowned for interacting with its fans in a direct manner, and during a Reddit AMA, delivered the news that its "actively working" on bringing the newest version of Android to the high-spec phablet. There's no word on when it will actually arrive, but CEO Pete Lau has kept the hype train in motion with a short teaser clip on Twitter.
Of course, the OnePlus 3 is not only popular among users for its strong specs and low price, but it's also incredibly dev-friendly. This means hackers, rooters and modders can tweak and alter the experience to their heart's content and indeed, many such users have already updated to Nougat via CM14.
Everyday users will be counting on the company to push out the new firmware officially, though, and the clip below proves that OnePlus' developers are making progress:
Unfortunately, there's still no release frame to circle in the diary. But it's very encouraging to see Nougat actually running on the OnePlus 3, and hopefully, end users won't have to wait too long for the OTA.
