-I guess it was a matter of time before they react to Sprint's Wimax and the EVO beast coming out in a few months.

I wonder if Verizon will use Android for a debut device too? Android seems to be the best frontrunner for 4G since it can multitask and has open development, etc. ...unlike Apple, who's too busy riding the leg of AT&T to jump on a carrier pushing for 4G :P

They may be slow about it but AT&T has 4G plans as well. LTE actually. When all is said and done AT&T VZW TMO and metroPCS will all be LTE carriers. And by the time VZW has a well established LTE footprint, apple will surely b free from AT&T and produce an LTE iPhone for any compatible network.

Verizon has been saying this since last year.. it's not a reaction to Sprint.. they're just confirming it at CTIA

t-Mo may be changing to WiMax if the rumors are true. And it kind of matches their push to catch Sprint and their push to get teh best phones...

all verizon does is talk n talk ''we gunna get LTE running'' they have been saying that since last year and have they done it NO! sprint kept their promise and are rolling out 4G also from what i heard metro pcs is also going to roll out 4G LTE this year and most likely they gunna take out 4G first than verizon knowing verizon how slow they are they gunna have LTE by 2020...

A matter of time? Your an idiot, Sprint "dashed" (no pun intended) in to 4g with WiCraps, its cheap and right up sprint's alley they are hoping to float on the "1st" 4g crap....anyone who knows anything about this stuff knows to fear LTE, VZW is the only one with the money to take time use their current dominant network and work on something that's going to be faster and last longer then WiMax, look forward to an early release of sprints 5g just to keep up with VZW LTE.

hey jackass.. they have been saying they are buliding and will have it in 25-30 markets by the end of the yaer THIS YEAR. You are crazy to think that sprint will overtake any carrier in the country. the ceo himself still has poopie dribbling down his leg, and hasnt cleaned the mess up from the last ceo that failed miserably! stop trashing vzw because you know your on sprint and sprint sucks big giant baaaalllzzzzz. vzw haters club! omarc26

Verizon has been announcing since mid 2009 that they would be launching LTE in 25-30 markets by the end of 2010. Tell me how they are following Sprint or not following through on what they say? if you're going to be a hater, at least do so factually

This is not new news. Since VZW first announced that they would be going with LTE for their 4G standard, they have publically stated that they will have 20 - 30 markets by end of 2010. Sprint was first, but WiMax is obviously inferior to LTE (WiMAx is slower, will have smaller coverage once LTE gets built out, only one US carrier adopting).

This is so exciting. I am not a fan boy of any network, but I am always excited when a carrier is doing big things with their network and for their consumers. I am glad T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon picked the same 4G standard. Imagine the impact all three carriers will have. Imagine not having to really worrying about not having a signal. Just awesomeness. And about Sprint...I think no one sees Sprint as a threat anymore. Again, not a hater...but Sprint is losing customers and AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile keep eating them up.

I think the introduction of this new HTC phone will help Sprint gain back a few lost customers.
8. Mateo8326 (Posts: 472; Member since: 15 Jul 2009)
Phone don't usually bring consumers to carriers it usually word of mouth....well i lied when the iphone come out people were dropping there providers left and right
9. replika30 (Posts: 9; Member since: 25 Mar 2010)
Actually VZW's orig plans for LTE wern't scheduled for first city launch til 2011. Full nationwide coverage was estimated by 2013. They must be sweating a bit if they're promising this much with only a halffull of towers in construction/conversion. Big red being big red will obviously charge its customers extra to use the network and carriers a ton to roam off of it aswell. Just some info though Sprint isn't loosing customers as fast as most thing. 90% of them are non primes and nextel subscribers that dont know they can switch to sprint.

21. PapaJay224 (Posts: 866; Member since: 08 Feb 2009)
Your an idiot -1 repkika, Spring is the one chargeing people extra for wifi anywhere, that's not 4G that's a phone that uses clear wire. Bogus.

Sprint prices: 3G plan: $59.99 3G/4G plan: $59.99 Per their website:http://nextelonline.nextel.com

really where do you see that Spring errr Sprint is charging people extra for wifi??
10. tiolawa (Posts: 115; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Sprint is not as far behind as some may think they are looking into LTE for the future. Wimax can be converted over to LTE with modifications. Also T-Mobile is looking at a partnership with Clearwire to jump on the WiMax bandwagon for right now not LTE.

Switch to sprint and grab the Evo. Wimax has been live in Hawaii for months.

VZW has the cash and resources to implement 4G LTE...Sprint's strategy is probably to jump out with Clearwire and then wait and see...WiMax has some + and -...i heard that Wimax Tower range is 30 miles, but the speed drops off at a very high rate the further u are away from the tower. Sprint will do what they have done in the past rely on VZW to be the backbone of their network...
