Official looking pictures of the Verizon Escapade
Last month we informed you that Verizon was preparing to launch a new CDMA/GSM world-phone, know as the Pantech Escapade WP8990VW. We're still not sure when the phone is due out, or for how much, but a few new pictures of the device were leaked today showing that it will have a maroon/wine color plastic exterior with a black plastic interior. We also learned that the rumors of it not having a microSD card slot are true, and that EVDO is not supported. This means the device will use CDMA 1x and D, GSM, and GPRS only. Other features include a 2MP camera, SIM slot, and a 2.5mm headset jack. We've also been told the internal display might not be QVGA as originally thought, which wouldn't surprise us, since the Escapade is turning out to be a low-end world phone and not a true competitor to the Samsung Renown.

ummm.... i guess this phone would gear more for the senior traveller? seriously though... if it isn't free with a 2yr contract what's the point... the renown beats this phone in every category...

maybe not free but will def. be cheap. way cheaper than renown. vzw is really working on expanding its global options and that includes low end travelers.

Nothing to write home to mom about.

Looks to be a typical global-rental phone. *shrug*
