Those AT&T customers who paid the full price for the Apple iPhone 5 can unlock the device through a quick iTunes reset; the methjod is said to be easier and quicker than AT&T's new method of submitting a form online and waiting for the carrier to respond...

anyone that pays $650 for a phone should have it unlocked out of the box!

...unlocked to work on friggin Mars.

it amazes me that people would pay $650 for a phone when you can get a mid-ranged laptop + nexus 7 or kindle fire HD for that price

I believe it's the convenience thing, a $650 smartphone is a little more portable and comfortable to carry than a mid-ranged laptop + nexus 7 or kindle fire HD for that price, just saying

should i even bother with this idiot? The HARDWARE of a phone doesn't come anywhere near close to being $650. So basically you are telling me that you are willing to pay $150 for the hardware, $200 for the portability, $200 for the comfort, and $100 for the labor right?

I never said I would do it, but there's obviously a lot of people that would, since the AT&T version is the one that sells the most.
If you want to save the pennies you shouldn't even be thinking about an iPhone. Oh, the cost to make it is widely available online (around $238 last I saw)

Why to buy full priced iphone 5?
Still at&t locked iPhone 5's are the cheapest.
I bought mine for 499$ from eBay than i used an unlocking service fromhttp://www.attiphoneunlocking.com/ , they unlocked it for 35$.
So i saved around 300$. My only problem with this phone that its a bit too big compared to my 4S and hardly fits into my pocket, maybe its lighter, and better camera, but its not a huge difference over the 4S, i'm thinking to will switch back..

I bought a iPhone 5 at the subsidized price so it was locked. I want to use it abroad without paying crazy fees so I needed it unlocked. I got it factory unlocked through Apple's servers in about 3 hours atwww.iphonefort-mobile.com. I dealt with Tom.
