Now that we have iPhone 5, would the next big thing be a new Nexus phone from Google?

The Apple iPhone 5 is out and it’s a solid upgrade all over - bigger, 4-inch screen, 4G LTE and 2x faster processor and graphics…

The name Prime is already taken by Asus's line of tablets, that's why. So, maybe the Asus Nexus Prime.

I disagree as a launch of another Galaxy Nexus will not attract as many buyers to Google over the iPhone 5. Everything about the iPhone is something Google isn't willing to invest in and that's marketing. Once they are able to market a product better then expect higher sales. The iPhone will probably go through 4-5 million preorders. Month of Sept should display close to 10 million. Those numbers will never be touched on an Android device unless they keep coming up with an army of phones. Q3 should post at least 20 million sold, Q4 should post close to 40-50 million sold. That would be the fast selling phone in history. Regardless of a subtle change in hardware and software they still sell millions.

I really think we've reached the limit for mobile tech...I mean, the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 is almost as powerful as a mid-ranged laptop. What else could they possibly do? 12MP Camera? 1080P screen?

On the side note, I'd love a Sony Nexus. Sony designs have always been original and the materials used are never compromised, the only problem I have is probably that they are always one step back compared to everyone (They were the only ones who launched a Gingerbread phone as their 2012 flagship.)

Jesus Mary and Batman how many IPhone 5 articles are we......oh wait.

I have much speculation it will based on Texas Instrument's OMAP5 system-on-chip (A15) but using the same camera + CMOS from the Galaxy SIII. Which I wouldn't mind really, there was much praise and improvement on the cameras.

As for display, I'm thinking they'll retain the same 4.65" size but maybe a slightly higher resolution.

I think the display will be a non PenTile 4.8" Super AMOLED HD.

This is so much more exciting than the iPhone. in fact let's look at the facts, the oh so secretive Apple hardly kept anything about their iPhone 5 secret. We already knew every single detail about it. From the size, to the camera, to the processor. Sammy, Sony, and HTC do a much better job keeping their products secret. We only hear a hint of something, but but don't really know much besides benchmark results. I know more people are obsessed with leaking the iPhone, maybe that's why, but still.

This new Nexus lineup coming, no matter how many companies jump on it, they will put the iPhone 5 to shame, both hardware and obviously software wise, due to the fact that even now the Nexus software is way more advanced.

Viva Nexus!

According to Apple, everyone is "playing catch up" and has the world's most advanced mobile operating system. That statement would hold true if iOS 6 was in 2010.

Jellybean is 2+ years ahead of iOS 6. It's a shame, really.

My GS2 has no lag at all. Quit it with your 2 year old arguments.

iOS has been lagging since the OG iPhone. Android has had lag since the G1. Its very tare that you'll see lag on any high end Android device from mid 2011+ that its not even worth noting.

puhlease! Learn Sony's ways of fitting NFC inside an aluminum unibody phone. NFC is possible for metal bodied phones, not just plastics.

Man, I'd love a Sony or HTC Nexus. That would be awesome. My Galaxy Nexus hasn't had another problems at all and never (well extremely rarely) shows any lag. I'm convinced that Nexus is the way to go. However AT&T needs to get one of those Nexuses and not f**k up the updates for me to get one once my upgrade comes. Otherwise WP8 looks perfect to accompany my current Nexus.

Sony/Asus would be perfect. But i don't really like the idea of having 3-5 models to choose from.. Google should keep the just-one-manufacter style.

Anyway, can't wait for the feeling of having the new Nexus in my hands. It's one of the best phones, ever.
