Why would you want Verizon to get it? So, you can wait months for it to get upgraded to the following iteration of Android while everyone else (except Sprint) gets it right away? Verizon owners of the Galaxy Nexus should be pissed right now. Jellybeans are apparently hard to come by for Big Red.

Eh. For me, the superior signal quality greatly outweighs the terrible update policy. Particularly because, as a rooted device, I've had Jelly Bean up and running on my V-Nex since 12 hours after JB's announcement. *shrug*

Why was the GN a huge let down? I have had the phone since launch day and have not had any issues other than my addiction to flashing different kernels and such...

That's sortof your opinion, it seems most people like the phone. Verizon, on the other hand, neutered it so blame them

Gn has been the best phone I have ever used. In terms of design itself it was totally underrated. Everytime I get it out everyone wants to know what it.

And IMO pure android is the best OS available

I'm on Verizon. Had JB on my GN since 8 hours after Jelly Bean announce.

Thanks to Pure Google, developers, and the wonderful people that got free Nexus's at Google I/O.

In a perfect smartphone world:

Google has the Nexus
Apple has the iPhone
Microsoft has the Lumia

Nothing else matters. But please do thumbs down me because I know all the non-Nexus owners will hate this message.

1. "verizon neutered it"
2. faulty charging port (such a pita)
3. ICS is NOT as smooth as promised
4. JB rollout is NOT as quick as promised (for gnex)

and ive read articles and talked with people that share this opinion. i was in love with this phone before and after purchase for a few months. but since then its been let down after let down.

Am i the only one who got the idea by the headline that the iP5 is a 'Big thing'?
iP4S was a big thing when it was released, nothing can be said about the 5.
God, PA makes it so convincing!!

I will thumb you up for being so bold and happy about your Nexus on VW. The phone was never up to standard from the start--especially in the signal arena. The GSIII runs circles around the Nexus in ALL aspects!!. Size, RAM, Speed, Signal, Processor-etc. anything else!!

That's your fault if you got the Verizon version, if not, too bad, I have really enjoyed it. GSM ftw

1. I fail to understand how Verizon neutered this phone, other than having to install updates myself it's identical to other carriers.
2. Faulty charging port? Mine works fine.
3. Oh shut the f**k up about ICS not being smooth.
4. I was running JB within 24 hours of the announcement.

The sgs2 ran circles around the gnex as well-particularly in the smoothness and camera.

1. I think he means that being a Nexus, it should've had JB on it way before now on Verizon.

2. I actually just had the charge port start showing signs up messing up on mine. Doesn't really bother me, a simple battery pull fixed the issue but it was annoying.

3. ICS I thought was very smooth on my phone. Then I put JB on it and it's lightning fast! Ooops, shoud I not use the word lightning anymore? I don't wanna get sued....

4. JB is the ish. Well played, sir!

Unlocked gsm with jelly bean out of the box is $350. The phone is great, one of the best deals on the market imo. You should blame your carrier instead.

ICS isnt smooth.

one of the main reasons i bought a nexus branded phone was so that i could get timely updates. i can root and flash roms, but its not something i like to do. i want a premium phone that works well all the time. i dont want a finicky device that requires constant tinkering.

its not a software issue. you may think that you did something, but you didn't. the flange inside the port becomes bent easily. this can cause the phone to act very strange. if you reset or do a battery pull, it might help for a bit, but until you bend that flange back, it will continue and only get worse. this is a known issue that verizon nor samsung will admit to, because they dont want to offer you a referb just for a $.01 port flange.

from hardware to software to customer support, the phone is a let down. say what you will and defend it all you want, but im done with android.

ayephoner, I definitely agree with you. When the Galaxy Nexus was announced, everyone made it seem like this was the phone to have...and its not. About the only thing I liked about it was that it was running stock Android. And you're right, ICS wasn't smooth (I don't know about Jellybean though). I don't hate many phones, but the Galaxy Nexus is one of the few that I do.

Troll, you are the definition on a spec whore. No offense lol, it's just a term. Not in 5 years, probably more, would you need as much power as a quad 1.8 GHz S4 Prime. I suppose you want a 1080p display as well with >400 ppi, even though you can't see over 100 of those pixels? Also 2-3 GB RAM? And a >4000 mAh battery, though that I can agree with. You're asking a bit too much for todays standards.

if you are unhappy with the product because of the update then you need to scream at VZW. The fact that it's still not updated is beyond stupid. Other phones are getting JB updates before a frikkin Nexus does. The fact that they dared to call it a Nexus and then lock it down like any other phone pissed me off from the get-go. its not a Nexus if its locked down.

That said, its a Nexus, if your tired of waiting, 10 minutes on XDA will fix your issue. I have JB running on my long officially DOA'ed LG-Gslate that didnt even get official 3.2. Its a night and day difference from crappy HC.

The nexus is for tinkerers. Its always been that way.

im unhappy with verizon because of the update, but moreso due to their customer service. its really, really bad.

im unhappy with samsung due to the hardware. they are getting premium money and obviously cut corners on the charging port. how on earth do you not make that out of durable materials?

and im unhappy with google for android. there were so many promises with ICS, which i loved at first, but over time my phone has lost its stability and sharp response time. im sure JB is great, but its still android...

That's right Nathan, it'd have to be pretty badass to be a Big thing in the first place, in which case, it wasn't.

My S2 with ICS is incredibly buttery with Nova Launcher. It's awesome.
But yeah, regular ICS wasn't as good as promised.
