Now that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 is official, which high-end smartphone would you buy?

0. phoneArena 14 Mar 2013, 20:43 posted on

She's beautiful isn't she? Dressed in her polycarbonate outfit, she glows with charm and appeal, begging us to get our itchy hands on it. Of course, we're talking about the new Samsung Galaxy S 4 smartphone, which just got announced officially. Although we're yet to give it a proper review, we're pretty content with what we've seen so far. Some of you are probably impressed as well, which comes as no surprise since the smartphone is powered by capable hardware and chock full of exciting features. But would you buy one?...

Gonna get a HTC One now.sammy disappointed me with the s4's design..looks like the note 2 and the s3 had a love child.and all that airview stuff..it has no practical use for me.i don't even use airview on my note 2's spen for the most part =\ and not to mention the UI looks like crap.doesn't even feel like android anymore.the last gen touchwiz looked IMHO.

I actually thought that was a great pun! Too bad you can't take it in with a smile on your face.

The only thing making me smile is the ignorance of some people on this site. It's turning quite funny how blinded people become when a manufacturer becomes popular and they go for the "underdog." That's literally what everyone is doing. HTC and Sony are the underdogs, therefore they must be popular to meet the same fate as Apple?

Pathetic.

To buy phones now, you have to have taste? I thought I can buy anything I want.

Doesn't give you the right to treat the ones less appealing to you like trash. That's what everyone's doing with the s4 while not even giving it a try. Already assuming the worst. Completely childish.

Chill dude!
I understand from your point of view that you love Samsung...and i respect that!
But this thing happens to every manufacturer by every anti-(particular) manufacturer. According to the hype created by the ads and promotions, S4 should have been something to be "Wow-ed" upon just by looking at it. Let's say, like SII and SIII or the HTC One or the Xperia Z. I don't see that in the SIV, sorry mate!
That's my opinion, i'm not supporting them...

I'm actually quite happy with my Xperia P. I know they can't compare at all, but I just haven't seen something on other mobile that makes me say: "I MUST BUY IT!!!"

nice phone indeed, small battery with 4'' inch display make bad battery life reasonable
at least it have real sony innovations that no other phone have like white magic technology and The transparent strip not like boring design, cheap felling, and copy cat innovation on crapsung flagship device

The good thing is, if you don't like the S4, you don't have to buy it. Alternatively, you can just wait 8-9 months for the S5, since Samsung obviously doesn't care if there is a year between models.

Currently I'm using Galaxy Nexus and I'm happy with this. There's several lack of build quality, I drop it once and now the usb port & speaker works a bit bad. But that's okay.
Xperia Z I believe is the best build quality out there as it have a water resistant, and solid looks, but not as beautiful. Software is good but not great.
HTC One have the best looking phone and build quality (after Xperia Z). But I don't like it's software UI. The Sense 5 is what I don't like in HTC One. Zoe camera feature is great. What I don't like is its Blink Feed & new app drawer. Lockscreen too, new clock widget too. Their new UI seems down graded the 1080p display.
iPhone 5? I have a very less interest in iPhone. Sorry.
Lumia 920 is amazing. Amazing build quality and design. Also, Windows Phone have amazing software in looks, performance, and stability. But lack applications. That's what I heard. Trying Windows Phone from Android may hurt in there.
Galaxy S IV? It's great. Powerful. Amazing. A lot of new features that is (maybe) useful. But I don't like Samsung's plasticky and (I think) it's too light weight... And let's wait for the pricing! :D

While I am very happy with my Nexus 4, if I had to pick it would probably be the HTC One. I really like that build quality.

Samsung just pulled their iPhone 4S to me. A minor update, nothing more. I'm sure it will be a great phone and sell a stupid amount, but it is nothing more than a small bump. Apple should probably sue them for making a minor improvement seem important. That's totally an Apple thing.

I'm buying a 808 PureView in mid April. Selling my 4s and keeping the 4th Gen iPad, N8 and good ole HD2 with jelly bean. Oh, and all those other phones like the C7, 5230, xpress music 5300, palm treo...

Can't wait for the 808, hopefully in red!

Samsung did a pretty bad job in sticking with Note 2 design for their flagship, the s4. BUTTTT, for people picking up their phones mainly because of how it'll look is absurd. No doubt about it, the One steals the show with it looks, but isn't it a rip off of the Blackberry Z10 design??(which has been leaked like a year ago), nokia N8 and iphone 5 are couple of the aluminum phones i've had, they might feel more premium compared to my current note 2, but they aren't as durable as people wanna convince us(easily scratched and dents/scuffs magnets). Sony Z, sexy phone with a buggy software, poor display(color saturation, poor viewing angles, 5" display with on screen buttons= 4.8" screen) and limited software innovations. The only thing that might hold a breath against the Galaxy S4, will be the LG Optimus G2. Till then, am sure the same old story will run again, the one we saw for the past 3 years, people criticizing Samsung's flagship for being a piece of plastic, then lining up to buy it. I was one of those btw, I attacked samsung when they introduced the S3 and the Note 2, and ended up buying both.
Bottom of the line, no Matter how much you ll criticize the S4, 80% of you will be the ones running after those 8 (25% lower power consupmtion) cores, crisp screen, 2600 mah battery, Galaxy Camera built in features, etc...
