Now that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 is official, which high-end smartphone would you buy?

She's beautiful isn't she? Dressed in her polycarbonate outfit, she glows with charm and appeal, begging us to get our itchy hands on it. Of course, we're talking about the new Samsung Galaxy S 4 smartphone, which just got announced officially. Although we're yet to give it a proper review, we're pretty content with what we've seen so far. Some of you are probably impressed as well, which comes as no surprise since the smartphone is powered by capable hardware and chock full of exciting features. But would you buy one?...

Gonna get a HTC One now.sammy disappointed me with the s4's design..looks like the note 2 and the s3 had a love child.and all that airview stuff..it has no practical use for me.i don't even use airview on my note 2's spen for the most part =\ and not to mention the UI looks like crap.doesn't even feel like android anymore.the last gen touchwiz looked IMHO.

Terrible pun, just like your taste in phones.
92. Nathan_ingx (Posts: 3024; Member since: 07 Mar 2012)
I actually thought that was a great pun! Too bad you can't take it in with a smile on your face.
117. chistoefurpuffer (Posts: 140; Member since: 11 Mar 2013)
The only thing making me smile is the ignorance of some people on this site. It's turning quite funny how blinded people become when a manufacturer becomes popular and they go for the "underdog." That's literally what everyone is doing. HTC and Sony are the underdogs, therefore they must be popular to meet the same fate as Apple?

To buy phones now, you have to have taste? I thought I can buy anything I want.
135. chistoefurpuffer (Posts: 140; Member since: 11 Mar 2013)
Doesn't give you the right to treat the ones less appealing to you like trash. That's what everyone's doing with the s4 while not even giving it a try. Already assuming the worst. Completely childish.
158. Nathan_ingx (Posts: 3024; Member since: 07 Mar 2012)
I understand from your point of view that you love Samsung...and i respect that!
But this thing happens to every manufacturer by every anti-(particular) manufacturer. According to the hype created by the ads and promotions, S4 should have been something to be "Wow-ed" upon just by looking at it. Let's say, like SII and SIII or the HTC One or the Xperia Z. I don't see that in the SIV, sorry mate!
That's my opinion, i'm not supporting them...

I love how many thumb down you got! lol

I'm actually quite happy with my Xperia P. I know they can't compare at all, but I just haven't seen something on other mobile that makes me say: "I MUST BUY IT!!!"

It's a nice phone with a bad battery life and no JB yet
102. yudi.nemesis (Posts: 1127; Member since: 14 Mar 2013)
nice phone indeed, small battery with 4'' inch display make bad battery life reasonable
at least it have real sony innovations that no other phone have like white magic technology and The transparent strip not like boring design, cheap felling, and copy cat innovation on crapsung flagship device

Even I am happy with my Xperia P dude..
But will buy Xperia Z soon once the Display issue is fixed..
Or will wait for Xperia SP..
I will have my Xperia P though :)

The good thing is, if you don't like the S4, you don't have to buy it. Alternatively, you can just wait 8-9 months for the S5, since Samsung obviously doesn't care if there is a year between models.

Currently I'm using Galaxy Nexus and I'm happy with this. There's several lack of build quality, I drop it once and now the usb port & speaker works a bit bad. But that's okay.
Xperia Z I believe is the best build quality out there as it have a water resistant, and solid looks, but not as beautiful. Software is good but not great.
HTC One have the best looking phone and build quality (after Xperia Z). But I don't like it's software UI. The Sense 5 is what I don't like in HTC One. Zoe camera feature is great. What I don't like is its Blink Feed & new app drawer. Lockscreen too, new clock widget too. Their new UI seems down graded the 1080p display.
iPhone 5? I have a very less interest in iPhone. Sorry.
Lumia 920 is amazing. Amazing build quality and design. Also, Windows Phone have amazing software in looks, performance, and stability. But lack applications. That's what I heard. Trying Windows Phone from Android may hurt in there.
Galaxy S IV? It's great. Powerful. Amazing. A lot of new features that is (maybe) useful. But I don't like Samsung's plasticky and (I think) it's too light weight... And let's wait for the pricing! :D

38. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 6736; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)

Your mean battery wasting gimmicks that you won't use-definitely. On the other hand...at least they're trying something at all

I'm a samsung fan but i would like to wait for something better, impressed by htc one not so much by the sgs4. But if i were to choose anything between those two, i will take the sgs4.
30. jellmoo (Posts: 704; Member since: 31 Oct 2011)
While I am very happy with my Nexus 4, if I had to pick it would probably be the HTC One. I really like that build quality.
Samsung just pulled their iPhone 4S to me. A minor update, nothing more. I'm sure it will be a great phone and sell a stupid amount, but it is nothing more than a small bump. Apple should probably sue them for making a minor improvement seem important. That's totally an Apple thing.

I'm buying a 808 PureView in mid April. Selling my 4s and keeping the 4th Gen iPad, N8 and good ole HD2 with jelly bean. Oh, and all those other phones like the C7, 5230, xpress music 5300, palm treo...
Can't wait for the 808, hopefully in red!

Samsung did a pretty bad job in sticking with Note 2 design for their flagship, the s4. BUTTTT, for people picking up their phones mainly because of how it'll look is absurd. No doubt about it, the One steals the show with it looks, but isn't it a rip off of the Blackberry Z10 design??(which has been leaked like a year ago), nokia N8 and iphone 5 are couple of the aluminum phones i've had, they might feel more premium compared to my current note 2, but they aren't as durable as people wanna convince us(easily scratched and dents/scuffs magnets). Sony Z, sexy phone with a buggy software, poor display(color saturation, poor viewing angles, 5" display with on screen buttons= 4.8" screen) and limited software innovations. The only thing that might hold a breath against the Galaxy S4, will be the LG Optimus G2. Till then, am sure the same old story will run again, the one we saw for the past 3 years, people criticizing Samsung's flagship for being a piece of plastic, then lining up to buy it. I was one of those btw, I attacked samsung when they introduced the S3 and the Note 2, and ended up buying both.
Bottom of the line, no Matter how much you ll criticize the S4, 80% of you will be the ones running after those 8 (25% lower power consupmtion) cores, crisp screen, 2600 mah battery, Galaxy Camera built in features, etc...

That's the phone I'm going too buy is the XPERIA Z. Buy why buy the HTC ONE for when it only have INTERNAL memory and it will cost more for the 32GB version.
173. true1984 (Posts: 593; Member since: 23 May 2012)
the one has 32 and 64 gig versions. still wish it had an sd card slot though...
39. dwgit (Posts: 37; Member since: 24 Dec 2012)
i though samsung was going to have flexible display bulls**t probably iphone 6 will there more avant-garde, breaking new ground, contemporary, cutting-edge, deviceful, ingenious, innovational, innovatory, inventive, just out, leading-edge, new, newfangled, original, originative, state-of-the-art
57. Musty18591 (Posts: 17; Member since: 11 Jan 2012)
u will have to wait for october 2014 because this year ,,, it's the introduction of iphone 5s
40. maherk (Posts: 1208; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
FYI, am not your typical fanboy, I am not biased to Samsung, but I might be biased to Android. For the past 3 years, I moved from Galaxy S1, to LG Optimus 2x, then Galaxy S2, Sony Ericsson Arc s, HTC Sensation, Note 1, Xperia S, back to Note 1, one x, Galaxy S3, Iphone 5, and now a happy Note 2 owner waiting for the Lg Optimus G Pro to arrive to my country.

HTC One! Otherwise, my contract die in november 2014, so... i will wait for GS5, GN4 or HTC One succesor
51. darkvadervip (Posts: 343; Member since: 08 Dec 2010)
Is it just me but did Samsung just pull an apple move. Same design just bigger and more specs and a few more features. I'm going Htc one.
53. RaKithAPeiRiZ (Posts: 1383; Member since: 29 Dec 2011)
maybe they thought that the stock will sky rocket like it happened to apple
86. jcpwn2004 (Posts: 314; Member since: 18 Jan 2012)
It changed a little though. I'm not saying it's a huge change but I prefer it to the s3, seems a little more industrial. Design isn't a huge deal to me personally, when the phone will be in a case and i'll be looking at the screen 95% of the time. Give me a good screen, battery life, camera & software & hardware features IMO!
56. fanboy1974 (Posts: 1291; Member since: 12 Nov 2011)
I love the HTC One speaker design but I love the ability of swapping batteries every morning. I could live with the base 32gig but I bought a 64gig card for my Note 2 over the holidays.
Samsung appears to be the only major player faithful to removable batteries and sd cards. Guess I'm waiting for the Note 3. A 1080p display in a bigger phone actually makes more sense.
58. someones4 (Posts: 619; Member since: 16 Sep 2012)
Still going with the s4. Htc one has no 5 inch display and xperia z falls behind in screen and camera quality.
60. sks1969 (Posts: 86; Member since: 04 Mar 2012)
Samsung went the iway, not many takers for S4, Surprisingly everyone wants to buy the lumia 920, am I dreaming? is this poll rigged? I have the 820 and I am happy.
61. moslondon (Posts: 19; Member since: 07 Mar 2013)
wtf???? there is something wrong in just 1 sec everyone wants the lumia and the sony?? 5000+ and 7000+ votes???? one minute ago I saw the htc one in first place
64. lonestrider (Posts: 86; Member since: 31 Mar 2012)
yes it must be something wrong with this.
93. Lauticol (Posts: 216; Member since: 25 Jun 2011)
I have an HD7 and everytime any WP gets in a poll, several blogs posts the link to the poll to make the WP win.. Makes it untruth..
Anyways, I voted for the HTC One: nice design, nice screen, enough camera to fit my needs :)
130. sbw44 (Posts: 412; Member since: 04 Dec 2012)
If thats the case why cant several android blogs do the same? they have the biggest marketshare anyway!
So stop whining and grow up geez!
62. iDroid8 (Posts: 155; Member since: 16 Oct 2012)
And the ones with the most votes are not the H1 or S4, but the XZ and L920!
Man, that was the last thing one could expect-packing the most inferior chipset, they were the last phones one could have wanted
Lumia is understandable considering WP's limitations-thats the best offering; but Xperia is plain old tech(though not very old, but still not spanking new), Optimus G announced way back in august had most of the specs same, save for the display res.
Blind fans everywhere!
63. fanboy1974 (Posts: 1291; Member since: 12 Nov 2011)
Pretty funny that over 7000 people voted for the Nokia 920 but Windows Phone is still declining in market share.
65. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4108; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Nearly 13,000 people voted for the Xperia Z and Lumia 920 within a couple minutes. I call hacks. These Sony/Nokia fan boys are getting out of control.
67. anthonyspapa (Posts: 18; Member since: 24 Jan 2013)
The S4 is meh nothing special. The Xperia Z is nice but dont like their UI. The HTC One is very tempting, but will wait and see how the Motorola X comes out like, also the Galaxy Note 3
69. xsmartphonex (Posts: 41; Member since: 14 Mar 2013)
I remember when the galaxy s3 first came out, everyone was complaining about how ugly it looked, but its still one of the most successful phones.
70. Noble_One (Posts: 58; Member since: 18 Aug 2012)
I'm good with my optimus g. I feel like it honestly stacks up pretty well, particularly against the xperia. We just got 4.1.2 too and it's hard to imagine anything being a lot faster than the g.
71. dorianb (Posts: 426; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
I hate to say this cause I'm down for the Android camp but the GS4 went all GS3s a la Apple. Same design just an internal specs bump & software. (Some of which I think is already available in the Play Store.)
So far (for me): Xperia Z>Moto X (holding out hope)>One=GS4>Lumia 920>Optima G/L>iPhone 5
75. superiorbeefjerky (Posts: 14; Member since: 18 Feb 2011)
I really wanted to like S4 but this was lame. This S4 introduction makes iPhone 5 introduction seem like an epic ground breaking. Nothing to see here, move on. Going back to sleep.
77. Jyakotu (Posts: 823; Member since: 12 Dec 2008)
If I were to go unlocked + SIM, I would get the Sony Xperia Z. If I were to go with a carrier, I'd either get the Nokia Lumia 920 on AT&T or the HTC One on Sprint.
