Now is the best time to purchase the Motorola DROID
Getting to that pivotal six month mark of availability in the market, the Motorola DROID has been doing wonders for both Android and Verizon Wireless. Falling in line at the perfect sweet spot of $199.99 when it was first released, we've been seeing a steady stream of price drops after each high-end Android device makes its way to the market. Although Verizon is still charging the premium of $199.99 on contract in their stores and online, indirect partners are making it quite affordable to own this well rounded Android smartphone. Online retailers like Amazon, WireFly, and LetsTalk have dropped the price for the Motorola DROID all the way down to a mere $19.99 – which easily will take notice despite the rash of other Android offerings hitting the market. Not only does it still get some help in the advertising department, we surely won't be seeing this device riding off into the sunset any time soon as word still gets around of what DROID does. Ultimately, it's apparent that now is the perfect opportunity to get yourself this highly priced Android smartphone that packs on a QWERTY keyboard – something that could come in handy.

Read the fine print in the WIREFLY/LET'S TALK CONTRACT!! No Rate plan changes or feature changes or they can bill you! Sneaky little SO*s!

Never purchase phones from online companies such as letstalk.....phone is a great price - but the charges can be deadly to your wallet.

Oh ok, yea sure....

Wow you sound pretty confident there.. Have you ever used these two phones? If so what are you comparing them to? Cause if you say, hem,.. iPhone you are comparing two different OS’s, one of which is now outdated, and lacking in capabilities.

DROID is only popular with VERZION customer - IPHONE outsells it 2 to 1 at least. That said, yes, the DROID has greater potential, even with its inferior processor - IPHONE 4 will be out soon and with a 1Ghz processor - MOTO DROID cannot do that - but the DROID INCREDIBLE can :-), and it is an HTC product.

We all know every other competitors to iPhone are "Worst Phone to date" according to jrcrow79 anyway.

my droid runs at 1 GHz. The Droid is underclocked out of the box.

ok, I did not know that....good to hear that we can make it a 1.0 Ghz phones, now we are talking.

Actually my Droid is running at 1.2ghz right now. Without issues. And it's V-E-R-I-Z-O-N. Good day.

Why would I want a inferior crappy motorola phone when HTC has a better and INCREDIBLE product with VERIZON??

11. LGVX1993 posted on 10 May 2010, 14:15

Once you get over the fact that its a Motorola phone, you would come to love the droid. Ive had mine for about a week and a half and I love it. I dont see anything wrong with it.

12. networkdood posted on 10 May 2010, 14:25

lol, just wait - of course, being a smartphone-starved VERIZON customer, maybe you have nothing to draw a comparison with. It is not a bad phone - you should have bought the INCREDIBLE. WHY WOULD ANYONE want a MOTOROLA DROID over an HTC DROID INCREDIBLE?

15. luisandres58 posted on 10 May 2010, 15:35

Maybe because the phone came out first..and it has had good reviews by all the supposedly experts..like Cnet, here at Phonearena, engadget, etc..and it was the best Android to date...of course in the electronics world every other month something better comes along.....

18. bucky posted on 10 May 2010, 16:42

that phone just came out. no keyboard either. oh and how about the support for apps directed to the droid. oh wait, wat about a screen you can actually look at outside? Oh, almost forgot about a battery that can last passed 1pm! how about the different docks available? How about the fact that the incredible isnt a big enough upgrade for most motorola droid owners to care??

19. LGVX1993 posted on 10 May 2010, 16:48

I could have gotten the incredible but I had to have a physical keyboard. All my phones in the past have had keyboards so I knew it would be hard to live without one. And before people start saying "Oh the keyboard isnt that good" its really not that bad once you actually use it more than twice.

20. numberonenygfan posted on 10 May 2010, 17:01

hmm lets see, better construction, physical keyboard, better feel to it ... better screen resolution.. (some may dissagree with that one but it is def. better in my opinion when viewing them side by side) and did i mention that the moto droid is a mans phone? all you sissys out there who complained about its weight.. need to be slapped! that phone is the best made phone i have ever seen. They are both tremendous phones and it would be a tough descision for anyone to make. i say go with whatever one you feel comfortable with but the motorola droid is a mans phone. go get one !

24. networkdood posted on 10 May 2010, 19:51

LGV bought his about 1-2 weeks ago and could have waited for a better phone. You can always download ROMs or APPS to fix the screen issue and that phone has plenty of apps for it. Now, if you had the DROID for a WHILE, then ok, I agree and would liken the situation to something like m yself not opting to go to a TILT 2, when my mod TILT was just fine.

27. XxxMich3113xxX posted on 13 May 2010, 18:02

"the motorola droid is a mans phone." really...do you know how many femals I have come into my store and get a moto droid...please..

I work for Verizon and have had service with them for about ten years. I have had countless "smart" phones including every OS available with the exception of Palm (to clarify, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Android and I had the iPhone very briefly)... The Motorola Droid is BY FAR the best phone I have used. The day the Incredible came out I spent three hours on the phone with customer service getting my upgrade moved up so I could get into the Incredible instead of my Motorola Droid. After getting the upgrade moved up, booting up an Incredible and using it for 2-3 hours, I went back to my Motorola Droid. Yes, the phone is faster than the Droid (unless you OC your Droid). Yes, the phone is lighter. Yes, the phone is running Sense UI. Those are really the only things the Incredible has over the Droid, and even then... I like the weight of my Droid. I do not like Sense UI (ran it on my Droid for a day and took it off). Here is the catch, my Droid has a PHYSICAL KEYBOARD. For anyone that texts or emails at lot, you would be a complete idiot to go with a 100% touch screen phone... I don't care how good the touch screen is you will always be able to type faster with a physical keyboard. End of story. Besides, you are clearly a fucking moron.
