Not what the dock-tor ordered? Big Red's Nexus card dock lacks 3-pin connector

While international version's of the Galaxy Nexus car dock utilize the 3-pin connector for easy charging, Verizon's version is strangely absent on the $40 item...

Just got mine today. Noticed it almost immediately. I could have *sworn* the image on the VZW site had the little copper dots........
Are there any alternatives that DO have the connector?
Going to Verizon after work to (politely) bitch about it.

Only thing ive heard so far is that you have to get the GSM version but theres no confirmation that it will fit since the sizes are slightly different

That's poor design imo. While on the topic of accessories:
I bought the verizon power and protection pack and am happy with the screen protectors and the car charger as it has a "pass-through" design allowing a usb revice to be plugged into the end of the cigarette lighter piece... I find that the holster is pretty durable, has an attractive design, and seems like it would last, but my biggest complaint is that its akward to remove and replace the phone from the holster, and it feels like a chore just to use it. Has anyone purchased this kit, and if so, how are you handling it so its easy enough to take out whenever you need to?
To those that haven't bought one or are reading this saying how silly it sounds, you really won't understand till you try it. My gripe is that text messaging and notifications require frequent use, therefore requiring frequent removal. The only other thing is the kickstand feels chintzy like it would eventually snap off or out of its track.

The extra battery charger and stand does not have the three pin connector either. How much better it would have been if they went ahead and made it possible to charge you phone at your bedstand while in a docking station instead of just a stand.

This is completely unacceptable. The 3-prong feature was designed into the phone for a reason! For a major accessory to ignore this is idiotic. I bought 2 of these for my wife & I. They are both going back, I hope Verizon is flooded with returns on this incomplete design. I can live with the fact that it is not easy getting the phone into and out of the dock. It has to be "squeezed" into place. It is somewhat of a concern that possibly over time this will negatively affect the up-down rocker and power buttons.
So after I get the phone properly in place in the dock, I now have to fumble with a micro USB connection??!! That's real fun at night with limited lighting. Someone at Samsung/Verizon was not using their head here!
One of the top failure modes for any cell phone is the charging port...and they usually fail right about the 1-year point when the phone is just out of warranty. The 3-prong design is brilliant in that it is eliminates stresses on the charging port.
Coming from the Droid X, the car dock might not have been the prettiest one around, but it sure worked very well. You could easily get the phone in & out of the dock with ONE hand!
I will wait for a car dock that utilizes the 3-prong setup, or at a minimum, does not required me to plug & unplug a microp USB every single time I want to use it!

Checked it out at the store last night. Almost bought two for both cars. Then I noticed the lack of the charge pins. Sorry, not paying $40 for a mount that does NOTHING. I tried my Nexus in it anyway and it doesn't trip it into a custom car mode with larger icons either like the Motorola ones. Complete crap.

Chafed, /agree with ya...Not sure if it helps, but pretty sure there are several apps in the market that will do that for you.. just a headsup.
