Nokia will pursue low-price Lumias with the help of Microsoft to battle entry level Androids

0. phoneArena posted on 14 Jun 2012, 08:02

Nokia's entry level phones have been its bread and butter for a long time, and no wonder it is trying to replicate the same strategy with Windows Phone as well, given the carrier and retail contacts it already has in place. Stephen Elop didn't specify when can we expect the army of affordable Lumia phones...

We have been trying to sell the lumia 610 but it rarely sells, the galaxy ace and ace plus as well as handsets like the xperia u,huawei ascends 300 and several other smartphones are similar priced if not some much cheaper and the windows phone rarely gets a look in.

Because when majority of their friends using android .
They want android too .
But if a majority of their friends are on iPhone .
I bet that individual will buy an iPhone .
Isn't this call peer pressures ?

Well, duh....

Low end devices are critical to build a base. Feature phone and basic phone users rarely go directly to too tier devices. They take low end and move up from there. Get Tango devices on pre paid carriers and in the emerging markets it was designed for, and get the 710's and 800's (and for that matter the HTC Radars and the Focus Flashes/Focus 2 from Samsung) of the world some love in advertising. They will sell, and your base will grow.

Theoretically......

they wont look at WP because, too many restrictions like bluetooth transfer, mass storage and expandable memory card!
if wp8 will change that everyone will be drooling on it! its eye catchy but just to expensive and too many restrictions that people wanted! MS shouldn't forgot that they are not apple and they are making entry level phones and fulfill what people needs!!

well its good news but there's some drawbacks like with 610 lumia phone, angry birds/skype cannot run properly but with entry level android phones, games/apps like this has no issue at all. I hope MS will take care of this in the future. This is one of the important basis for consumers in choosing their entry level smart phones.
