Nokia updates Nokia Maps, adds Israel and other countries

0. phoneArena posted on 25 Jan 2013, 09:07

Nokia has updated Nokia Maps to include mapping data for Israel and Serbia with turn-by-turn capabilities coming to those two countries; other improvements are taking place with clearer and easier to read maps and roads, coastlines and streams are beginning to get drawn more realistically removing the need for satellite pictures...

no it's not. i didn't use nokia maps in my life, nor i know how good they are, but what i do know is that google maps has almost the whole globe covered (i mean basic street mapping, lets not get to street view), so until nokia covers what google already has, it's not even close of being better.

It differs from country to country. In my region (India) nokia maps is better since google maps misses some streets.

well, i guess i will try nokia maps now that they support israel (where i live) and compare it to google's

I think these addition of maps will benifit offline maps. While google maps needs constant 3g/4g/wifi connection.

Nokia has great mapping services, and certainly does give Google a run for it's money. It simply depends which platform you choose. Android is more popular, but WP8 is good too, and the UI and other features are vastly improved over previous versions (aka Windows Mobile). Ultimately, it's a matter of personal preference...

This is totaly false information.
Nokia maps are still mising for Serbia.
No cirilic writing for Serbia, no maps...
