Nokia has entered a downward spiral in the last few quarters, but despite its quickly deprecating market share, the Finnish cell phone maker is still number one in total cell phone sales…

Nokia still has many chances to survive and even if the new strategic fails they can go for android and make a come back like Motorla. But I really hope the Nokia/Wp7 strategic succeed.

I hate to tell you this but Motorola missed for the quarter with just Android. Solutions which is the Radio and data division was the side of Moto that was profitable.

Agreed. Probably the reason why Nokia's Board of Directors still didn't fire Elop after a lot of obvious management failures is because, they still want to see the outcome of the WP7 strategy. If it fails, then let's all bid farewell to the costly trojan horse.

Windows 7 was in so few markets this past year, it's numbers are almost a mulligan. 2010 was just a soft start-up, as I heard another poster refer to it. 2011 was just the ramp up. With Nokia, Toshiba, Huawei, HTC, LG, and Samsung on deck for Q4 and 2012, there is pressure on to perform very well right out of the gate for Mango, as well there should be. New features+ new apps+more availability = better sales.

Other than that, RIM is lower than I thought was, and truthfully so was iOS. Though with new devices out, both companies Q4 figures should be a lot different.

Agreed on windows phone. I think MAS realised they needed to get something else, even though it was halfbaked. Mango feels like version windows phone 1.0 and it will be the success of failur of this (combined with Nokia's involvement coming) that will determine if Windows Phone is successful in the long term. By this time next year we will be getting a clearer picture, and 2 years time, Windws phone will be fully in or fully on it's way out.

@jthiagesan: Try using SPB mobile shell with HTC sense. You can download it from N8fanclub.com and just follow the instructions. Also remeber before installing SPB mobile shell delete 2 of the 3 homescreens and take out all the widgets to save Ram space.

Just as i said, bada is the number 5 OS in the world outselling WP7 and Winmo

Bada sold 2,055.8 units in 1 quarter. Now I'm not an expert in phone sales, but that is beyond terrible. At least Microsoft is getting money from their patents, and the sales of WP7 are low simply because everyone wants to wait for the Mango devices in the Fall. IMO, I think sales will be: Android (1st), iOS (2nd) and WP7 (3rd). The salesmen all over the US are favoring Android because of various reasons, iOS fans will always be iOS fans (for the most part) and WP7 just isn't getting through with advertising. And if it weren't for you, I would not even know what a Bada phone is lmao.

If you think of it like this. Microsoft has spent over 400 million $ on marketing, and they have sold less than bada.
In 2011 Samsung has so far only released 1 bada phone on the market, and that is a low end phone. I have also not seen Samsung market bada anything this year. So for not having marketed bada this year and only to have come with 1 low end device, i think 2 million sales the second quarter is quiet good.

I believe that now that bada 2.0.1 is comin in september, Samsung will market it more and release the Wave 3 which will be a high end phone with really good specifications. So i believe bada will sell lots more in the last quarter this year.

Bada...
Highest expectations of all the new systems (WP7, Symbian^3) and also the most mature one.
Wining almost 2% of the market in just three monts.
Shipped on board of high tech devices...
And then left to... Exactly what was Samsung's thought? They left bada to...?
Now that the bada 2.0 has arrived (its beta, at least), we can see that they are up to something.
Samsung might as well close its bada department unless they launch another high tech device. 4" amoled, more on-board GB and a 1GHz processor (to let the phone survive the day on one charge)
Bada is targeting those to smart for iOS and those willing something a bit more closed than Android.
If Samsung does not get it right, this segment of the market will be taken by a iPhone nano or whatever they are going to call it.

Hmm, i believe the Wave 3 (probably coming this autumn) with bada 2.0 and some really good specifiactions.

If Samsung does not do that (which i'm sure they will) i don't really know what they are thinking.

it just goes to show you, Nokia and Samsung are better than Apple, enough of iB1tchism.

"runner-up Samsung will soon be literally breathing in Nokia's neck as it sold 69.8 million phones, now only some 28 million handsets behind. LG ranked third overall selling 24.4 million, followed by galloping Apple, which Gartner says sold 19.6 million devices." whats that we read???Apple in 4th place and its advertised as the best (1st place), thats we isheep butchers call bullSh*t.

They're first place in smartphone sales. You'd have to be intelligent to read through those articles and understand them.

I think Nokia and Windows is a winning combination. I see them taking a lot of market share from android.

Just android? iOS will suffer as well.
Both WP7 and iOS cater to the simpler people, myself included. I'm using android right now but I can't f*cking stand it!! I won't use any iOS product because I don't like Apple as a company and they'll never see a dime from my pocket.
