I'd blame miscommunication in the advertising department of Nokia. I don't see how Microsoft can be blamed for this.

The black cloud named microsoft rolled in over Nokia, and this blunder is an indirect result of that. If Nokia is to be blamed for anything it would be the decision to go with WP exclusively. They could have been dabbling their feet in some Android waters a long time ago to have a taste like all the other OEM's. Maybe it would have worked out better than they thought.

And now what could have been prevented with a simple disclaimer is going to require all manner of effort to regain the consumers trust. The risk to Nokia is that with the multiple releases (and sales that will occur shortly after the releases) of competing flagship phones, the consumer will have moved on. In that circumstance, Lumia 920 sales will under-perform.
An ounce of prevention versus a pound of cure. A simple disclaimer is all that was needed.

well only if they give the phones to multiple reviewers before iphone5 is launches or even in next month it will clearify much more the douts of the people unless WP8 is not ready to be released by MS to OEMs which is more likly the case. i hope they diliver in time.

There is a high probability of delay by MS in the WP8 release. Buyers will make their decision about which flagship phone to get based on what is available when they are making their decision. They will have to decide between the New iPhone, RAZR HD, Note II, and, and, and - all which will be shipping before the Lumia phones ship.
I was in a Sony store over the weekend, and buyers were snapping up toys that were in inventory.

do you people really need like a terabyte on a phone? my entire music collection can fit on my 710 and it has only 8gb of storage, the 920 will have 32gb, thats like a month of continuous playback???

I put 2 GB of music on my Lumia 900 but only listen to them in hotels when I can plug in the power cord. Playing music just drain the battery of any phone.
Best way is to have an ipod nano. Small enough to carry around. Hopefully Apple will announce an undated version soon.

There's also video. I have about 6gb of music and about 24gb of video, plus all the stuff Android puts on the card and pictures and backups on my 64gb card.

hm, i dint even think of video, i sync all my videos to my pc, these small screens are just not confortable to watch a hd movie are they? so i wonder why you need to carry 24gb of videos with you. i dont need any backups on my wp so i dont know exactly what youre talking about. oh and i have the entire nokia map of my country for voice guided navigation on my phone and still room to spare...

Sounds like you have a small music collection. I'm at 60+ gigs. All kinds of stuff for whatever mood I'm in. Without the added memory it's just that more work for me to choose what to carry and/or increases the possibility that I might forget to sync and leave the pictures or music I want at home.
I for one could give a rat's @@$ about what the SD slot does to the looks of a phone - when I get a phone the first thing I do is wrap it up in armor.

60+ gigs of music? impressive! i appear to have a different taste then, as i have only about 20 authors i like and have albums form cca 10 of them. but still for the regular trips to town i am rarely left wanting. plus i have 20 gigs of free skydrive so thats always an option.
its not what it does to the look but to the durability of the phone. a single shell is far more durable than one vith a 1000 parts. i feel im of a rare sort but i tend to buy what i need not what i might need. its this recession thing :S

Don't you understand when an error is made? The 920 camera is still better the all the leading competitor products (review at the Verge). These things happen to all companies it's just unfortunate it happened at this stage with Nokia. The next logical step to make as consumers is to MOVE ON.

the only thing good about the new Nokia phones turned out to be phony, Nokia had a chance to gain something in the market with their new cameras but now looks like they might actually lose out for not being honest in their marketing.

More like a clever marketing. The first pic was fake and the second was sort of true. Many reporters, bloggers and etc will be itching to find out if its true capabilities and Nokia will get all the free publicity and notoriety that they need to sell Lumias. Genius!

This nothing to do about the Nokia but the method which the alleged advertisement it was delivered. This stunt has been done before by other companies and other products. As far as I'm concern, whether or not Nokia succeeds or not I don't give a damn. I don't hate or a fan of them, just saying.

A wise decision would be the reduce the 32 gb internal memory to 16 and add a external memory slot. This will considerably reduce the price.

Rather have 32 + 32 (or more) so that there is a clear example of value for the money, and customers can realize that spending $100 for each step of more data capacity for iDevices is exorbitant and wasteful

how about people just look at shots the actual phone has taken then, if it lives up to the claims then most on here will have to eat there words
and nokia have a great history on camera tech and innovation just look at the nokia 808 pureview
i hope the lumia 920 lives up to the claims and puts this stuff about fake vid to sleep
ohh and all phone ads are exaggerated with shortened sequences etc makes them look like they run smooth and perfect when in fact it aint the whole case

Siri ads isn't advertising the camera, it advertised Siri.
Samsung ads didn't advertise its camera, it advertised the Galaxy S3.
Nokia's ad is advertising the 920's camera, didn't use its camera.
The fact that the ad showed the guy using the phone to record in the scene right before showing from his point of view is enough to prove they were advertising the 920's camera.
Nokia, sit the f*ck down.

HTC One X, Lumia 900 dropped on concrete floor... no scratch, no problem
Galaxy S3 dropped on floor, casing cracked... Iphone 4 dropped on floor, glass cracked.
Rather pay more for HTC and Nokia solid build.

It sucks how the S3 breaks quite easily. The S2 was great in drop tests. Motorola also have solid build quality

And really if I spent $$$ on a phone, I don't really want to bother with protective casing...etc.... So the gorilla glass of my Lumia 900 is awesome. My old Iphone 4 is in terrible shape...lol

s**t happens. Don't really care. Still getting the cool Nokia Lumia 920. people who want that pureview technology will still get it anyway. Even without pureview that is still the WP8 handset I will buy.
